Abstract: In an optimum frequency detection sequence of a discharge lamp, the frequency control circuit performs a sweep operation in which, while the frequency control circuit monitors a synchronization degree signal, a frequency control signal is changed, so that frequency is changed, starting from either an upper or lower limit frequency of a periodic driving circuit, in a range that does not exceed the other frequency, wherein after completion of the sweep operation, the frequency control circuit determines a value of the frequency control signal corresponding to a resonance frequency of the resonant circuit, and inputs the value into a frequency driving circuit, wherein at least in a period of the sweep operation, an inverter receives power supply from a sweep time power supply circuit for supplying electric power with constant supply capability, which is limited to a range in which breakdown does not occur in the discharge lamp.
Abstract: An exhaust gas treatment device for internal combustion engines and the like includes inlet and outlet end caps, two catalyst substrates, and a two-piece housing. A first, cylindrically-shaped housing member has a hollow interior in which one of the substrates is retained, a first end sealingly connected with the inlet end cap, and an opposite second end with a radially reduced section. A second cylindrically-shaped housing member has a hollow interior in which the other one of the substrates is retained, a first end sealingly connected with the outlet end cap, and an opposite second end with a radially enlarged section sized to receive therein the second end of the first housing member, whereby the reduced section of the first housing member and the enlarged section of the housing member are spaced radially apart a predetermined distance to define an annularly-shaped space or gap which thermally insulates the associated portion of the exhaust gas treatment device.

The power source apparatus includes a gate driver generating a first drive signal and a second drive signal to a gate of a first field effect transistor and to a gate of a second field effect transistor, respectively. The first field effect transistor and the second field effect transistor are turned on and off alternative by the gate driver.
Abstract: A cryopump and a regenerating method of the cryopump whereby temperatures of a first stage and a second stage can be securely increased to target temperatures and time required for regenerating can be shortened are provided. At the time of regenerating, the temperature of the second stage cooling stage is controlled based on the temperature detected by the second temperature detection part. In the case where the temperature of the first stage cooling stage reaches the limiting temperature, namely critical temperature, of the first stage displacer, the rotation in the reverse direction of the reversible motor is controlled or stopped and thereby the regenerating process is stopped for a while.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for automatically discriminating a control solution from a sample in a measurement system for measuring a target ingredient in the sample by using a measurement wavelength and a reference wavelength, wherein as the control solution, a control solution having a response value lower than a lower limit value (threshold) of a response value, such as absorbance, supposed when luminance of the sample is measured at the reference wavelength and having a response value higher than an upper limit value (threshold) of a response value supposed when luminance of the sample is measured at the detection wavelength for detecting whether the sample is supplied is used.
Abstract: [PROBLEMS] To provide a semiconductor element manufacturing method by which a semiconductor element having high accuracy and high function can be manufactured by controlling diffusion depth and diffusion concentration in a pn junction region with high accuracy. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A diffusion control layer (2) composed of a thin film of a substance having a smaller diffusion coefficient than that of a diffusion source (3) is formed between a surface of a substrate (1) and the diffusion source (3), and an element of the diffusion source (3) is permitted to thermally diffuse through the diffusion control layer (2). Thus, the diffusion depth and the diffusion concentration in the semiconductor region, which is formed on the surface portion of the substrate and has a conductivity type different from that of the substrate, can be highly accurately controlled, and the semiconductor element having high accuracy and high function can be manufactured.

The imaging method includes the steps of: setting an imaging range in a vertical direction of the imaging part according to the zoom magnification set in the digital zoom step; outputting a driving signal for scanning the shutter signal and the readout signal to perform exposure in the imaging range set in the imaging range setting step and driving the imaging part; and discarding, when the zoom magnification is changed in the digital zoom step, images imaged by the imaging part before and after the change of the zoom magnification to prevent the images from being used.
Abstract: A driving method of a solid-state imaging device vertically transfers a signal charge obtained by photoelectric conversion and horizontally transfers the signal charge vertically transferred to output an imaging signal corresponding to the signal charge. For every charge packet unit for transferring the signal charge, the charge packet unit being formed of columns of transfer channels used in the vertical transfer, a backward transfer channel behind the charge packet in a vertical transfer direction is turned off substantially simultaneously with turning on of a forward transfer channel ahead of the charge packet.
Abstract: Electronic documents corresponding to executed paper documents are certified. A certifying agent receives an electronic document and a corresponding paper document that had been executed pursuant to some transaction. The certifying agent compares the information contained in the paper to that in the electronic mortgage document. If the paper adequately corresponds to the electronic document and is otherwise sufficient, then the certifying agent certifies the electronic document so that other parties can reliably engage in transactions involving the electronic document without having to possess or otherwise inspect the executed paper document. Certification involves application of some form of indicia of certification to the electronic document, such as updating the value of a field corresponding to certification in the electronic document and/or applying a digital or electronic signature corresponding to the certifying agent to the electronic document.
