Abstract: A method is disclosed where organic acid chelates can be made by reacting an organic acid ligand with a metal compound in a non aqueous environment. The chelate is thereafter recovered by means of filtration or evaporation.
Abstract: A toothbrush design which more effectively permits bristle penetration into the spaces between tooth and gum for removal of plaque and food debris lodged within these spaces. The toothbrush design incorporates a rotatable brush disc having a plurality of radially outward extending bristles but where the width of the bristle disc and number of bristles are preferably limited so that the bristle tips can penetrate into the space between tooth and gum and preferably be of sufficient length to penetrate to the bottom of the space.
Abstract: The invention comprises a retarder system for use with road vehicles. The retarder system discloses two improvements. The first is a system incorporating a self-excited electromagnetic and hydraulic retarder combination. The second is a retarder system incorporating the use of a PMG Gear ratio which permits use of a permanent magnet generator on a secondary shaft which is coupled by the gear ratio to a drive train.
Abstract: The strength of a nitroglycerin dosage to be administered to patients suffering from angina can be reduced when a portion of the dosage is replaced with menthol containing substances (MCS). MCS and specifically 1% Menthol has been found to potentate the effect of nitroglycerin. Accordingly, MCS can be used as a substitute for a portion of the nitroglycerin dosage administered to a patient. Side-effects common to nitroglycerin usage such as headache and fainting are significantly reduced when a nitroglycerin/MCS solution is used which has 50% of the nitroglycerin dosage per spray commonly used without sacrificing treatment effectiveness.
Abstract: The invention comprises a retarder system for use with road vehicles. The retarder system can combine an electromagnetic retarder with up to four functions: 1) a brushless DC alternator; 2) a brushless DC starter; 3) an active damper that replaces the vehicle's flywheel and smooths out residual torque pulsations; and, 4) a transmission-synchronizing inertia brake; and, 5) a transient engine booster to offset the lag associated with turbo-charged engines. The device may be integrated within the engine or within the transmission, preferably using the vehicle heat exchanger for its cooling system.
Abstract: A regulated permanent magnet generator incorporating a “tapered” or conical design for improved voltage regulation. The tapered faces of the rotor and stator are axially displaced from one another as the demand for voltage changes. In addition, this design allows for the stator and rotor to be used as a braking mechanism when placed into frictional contact with one another such as to prevent windmilling. This design offers better space efficiency when used with certain engine applications.
Abstract: This invention describes a method of MCC production by means of the following process: first, treating a cellulose source material with an alkaline solution which induces swelling of the cellulose source material; second, addition of hydrogen peroxide and/or other peroxides to reduce viscosity; and third, separation of MCC from the suspension. The alkaline MCC obtained must thereafter be treated with an acid solution to become pH neutral. The MCC is separated and is then ready for drying, and subsequent use in commercial applications.
Abstract: A new mounting system for elevating and supporting objects such as solar panels and satellite dishes upon a roof. The mounting base for attachment to a roof rafter incorporates a threadable elongated member or stanchion and only requires a single lag bolt which is positioned directly beneath the stanchion for fastening to a roof rafter. A guide tunnel is also provided on the roof mount for proper drill angle into the rafter.
The solar panel support utilizes C-shaped extruded aluminum horizontal members where, upon fastening the solar panel to the members, enhances the strength properties from a C-shape to a square structural member.
The disclosed design for the solar panel support and associated equipment which are attached to at least two mounting bases, permits efficient packaging, resulting in minimal packaging time and cost.
Abstract: A temporary guard rail system for use during building construction which utilizes a flex joint which incorporates a heavy duty spring. The flex joint is slidably mounted to the ends of adjacent rail members. Utilization of the flex joint permits guard rails to be installed in varied orientations and is not limited to use on a horizontal plane.
Abstract: An improved vent hood for abandoned oil and gas wells which is made of concrete and reinforced with linear and coiled rebar to withstand substantial overburden. The invention can be fabricated in either a two-section conical or cylindrical embodiment. Either of the two-section embodiments allow the base member to be positioned around the abandoned well casing and thereafter filled with gravel. A concrete lid having an aperture is thereafter placed upon the base section with a gas sealant disposed between the mating surfaces of lid and base sections. A vent pipe is thereafter inserted into the aperture to permit gas collected within the vent hood to flow to surface.
Abstract: Concentrated phosphorus fertilizers of the phosphorous variety are described which are absorbed quickly into plant systems and improve plant growth. Particularly described are fertilizers having a combination of phosphorous acid or its salts thereof, and either (a) polyphosphoric acid and its salts thereof; or (b) phosphoric acid and its salts thereof. This combination phosphorus fertilizer, when combined within a specific ratio range, increases phosphorus uptake to plants thereby enhancing plant growth.
