Patent number: 5560396Abstract: A rigid end socket for flexible tubing is made by folding an axial length portion of a flexible resilient elastomeric tubing around a rigid metal collar having a substantial axial length. The collar is thus embedded in the end of the tubing to provide a rigid end socket that is capable of receiving an end plug or a coupling device. The end plug or coupling device may be tightly seated in the socket by inserting it therein and by using axial pressure to radially expand the body portion within the collar.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1994Date of Patent: October 1, 1996Inventor: Vance M. Patent number: 5557878Abstract: A depth metering float for use with a fishing line, the float having upper and lower outer shell sections rotatable relative to one another and a carriage assembly located within the shell and adapted for rotation about a central axis relative to the shell. The fishing line is passed through the interior of the float and a brake mechanism associated with the carriage assembly serves to selectively clinch the fishing line to stop passage thereof through the float when a desired depth is reached. Located within the carriage assembly is a buoyant drum that rotates about a drum axis perpendicular to the central axis. The fishing line engages the drum so that the drum turns as the fishing line descends. A gear train connects the drum to the carriage and rotary movement of the carriage relative to the shell assembly ultimately actuates the brake mechanism to clinch the fishing line after a predetermined amount of drum rotation.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1994Date of Patent: September 24, 1996Assignee: American Sport Lure, Inc.Inventor: Charles A. Patent number: 5556471Abstract: A method and apparatus for dispensing a polymer foam includes apparatus for forming a pressurized solution of intermixed polymeric material and gas. The polymeric material remains intermixed with the gas while the solution is maintained above a critical pressure. The pressurized solution is dispensed in wide band through an elongated slot. The dispensing apparatus includes an exit slot section in which the pressure of the solution drops below the critical pressure and the foam begins to form. The solution is maintained above the critical pressure until the solution enters the exit slot section so that premature foaming of the material is prevented.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1994Date of Patent: September 17, 1996Assignee: Nordson CorporationInventors: George E. Patent number: 5534733Abstract: A light is dimmed by pulsing it at a selected duty cycle. By pulsing, the light can be dimmed without being turned off completely which reduces wear on the filament. The circuit is designed for flashing a pair of ditch lights on a railroad locomotive. The lights are alternately illuminated at full voltage and dimmed by pulsing. The flashing sequence can be activated when the locomotive is travelling below a selected speed or when the horn is sounded. The duration of the flashing sequence is controlled by a timer. The pulsing circuit can be used to effectively reduce a voltage without voltage dropping resistors.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1993Date of Patent: July 9, 1996Assignee: Meg Trans Corp.Inventors: Donald C. Patent number: 5524909Abstract: A collet arrangement comprises a collet having a taper at its work-piece receiving segmented head. The collet is axially fixed relative to a chuck body by means of a screwed bush. The latter is locked axially to the chuck body by being trapped under the heads of bolts, and is locked against rotation by means of a pin. The chuck body is secured to the machine spindle. A tapered sleeve is slidable between the chuck body and the collet and is secured to a draw tube by bolts, an actuating plate and an adaptor ring. These bolts freely slide through the chuck body and can thus move the tapered sleeve in an axial direction relative to the collet so that their respective tapers cause the collet segments to grip and release the work piece. Unlike the normal draw back type of collet arrangement, the collet itself is therefore axially fixed.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1994Date of Patent: June 11, 1996Assignee: Crawford Collets LimitedInventor: Anthony P. Wyatt

Patent number: 5522592Abstract: A protective device for golf clubs includes a pair of relatively non-extensible straps that are attached at one end to a cap and at the other end to the open end of a golf club head cover. When the head cover is placed on the golf club, the cap can be placed on the grip end of the club so as to apply a slight tension to the head cover by way of the straps. Accordingly, the head cover will be maintained in place on the golf club. The device can be provided to consumers for attachment to existing head covers, or it can be provided to consumers as an assembled head cover-straps-cap unit. In alternative embodiments, the straps can be connected releasably to the head cover, and the length of the straps can be adjusted to accommodate clubs or head covers of different lengths.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1994Date of Patent: June 4, 1996Inventor: Rex Evelsizer, Jr.

Patent number: 5522231Abstract: A mass flow control apparatus and method for use in combination with a heat transfer system having a compressor, condenser, expansion valve, evaporator and working fluid in a fluid circuit. The mass flow is controlled using a quality sensor for the working fluid exiting the evaporator, and a high side pressure sensor. A control circuit is provided that monitors the quality sensor and the high side pressure sensor, and controls operation of the compressor, condenser fan and valve in response thereto. A flow reduction mode is used to reduce high side pressure at the valve inlet without excessive compressor cycling by changing the quality sensor set point when the high side pressure exceeds the condenser fan turn-on pressure but is less than the compressor disengage pressure.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 1995Date of Patent: June 4, 1996Assignee: Parker-Hannifin CorporationInventors: Richard L.
