  • Patent number: 4159114
Abstract: This specification discloses an improved ice hockey stick in which strips of reinforcing plastic material are disposed in, preferably embedded into the wide side surfaces of the handle of an ice hockey stick which otherwise is made of suitable hardwood. The construction is such that the completed hockey stick handle will be perceived by the hockey player as a conventional wooden hockey stick and not as a hockey stick whose handle is made of plastic or is covered with plastic material. An improved method for making handles for hockey sticks is disclosed wherein the reinforcing strips are applied to a large number of handles which are pressed together in a suitable apparatus before installation of the blades to the lower extremity of the handle component.

  • Patent number: 4145787
Abstract: The structure of a hand duster having soft yarns retained on the end of a spirally wound metal wire is disclosed wherein the soft yarns are bunched together by means of a single loop at the end of the spirally wound metal wire. The yarns consist of crimped synthetic fibers in two state permanently secured at their intermediate region by the single loop of the twisted wire. The method comprises preparing a bunch of yarns and retaining same against the curved end of the bent wire shaped in a hairpin configuration, and retaining the curved end of the wire while the generally parallel extending legs are spirally wound around one another along a straight line resulting in a tightly gripping loop around the middle portion of the bundle of yarns. The yarns are then teased and trimmed thereby to produce a round fluffy head portion. The spirally wound stem is then cut to a predetermined length and then a handle component is permanently secured to the free end of the stem.

  • Patent number: 4065848
Abstract: A defroster and a method for the installation of a defroster of the resistive type specifically designed to be installed on the rear window of a completely assembled motor vehicle, comprising heating conductors in the form of thin pre-glued strips of solid copper or copper alloy applied to the inside surface of the rear window in a first direction with two spaced apart connecting conductors in the traverse direction; apparatus designed for applying the various parallel heating conductors to the inside surface of the window; and a method for repairing pre-existing rear window defrosters comprising cleaning the area of the defect, applying a sufficient length of pre-glued solid copper or copper alloy overlapping the defective heating conductor securing the new strip in place and making electrical connections between the overlapping ends and the underlying heating conductor.
