  • Patent number: 8302406
Abstract: A fuel delivery and control system is provided including a dual pump fluid circuit configuration comprising a fixed positive displacement pump sized to supply the main engine burn flow ranging from above windmill through cruise, a positive displacement actuation pump including a variable pressure regulator, wherein the actuation pump is sized to supply fluid to engine actuators, valves and other hydraulically operated engine components and a pump flow sharing system interconnecting the two pumps. The combined flow from the two pumps is sufficient to meet the engine flow demand for windmill relight and maximum flow conditions. During cruise or normal operating conditions, the pumps operate in completely isolated flow circuits, minimizing recirculation and therefore heat input into the fuel supply system.

  • Patent number: 8302383
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for introducing a liquid into a gas flow, more preferably for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. The device includes a chamber, an injection device and a channel. The channel with a circumferential region of an inlet section protrudes into the chamber and there on an inner side facing the gas flow has a surface. Said surface is arranged offset to the inside with respect to a channel profile. The proposed design results in improved evaporation of the liquid introduced into the gas flow.

  • Patent number: 8305168
Abstract: A forced return solenoid that includes an electrical winding configured to create an electromagnetic field when electrical current flows through the winding, an electrical terminal configured to be connected to a source of electrical energy, and a moveable contact plate configured to be moved into contact with the electrical terminal. Embodiment of the forced return solenoid include a plunger configured to move axially in response to the electromagnetic field generated by the electrical winding. Movement of the plunger in one direction causes the moveable contact plate to connect with the electrical terminal. Movement of the plunger in the opposite direction causes an impact intended to break the connection between the moveable contact plate and the electrical terminal. Embodiments of the forced return solenoid further include a return spring configured to move the plunger in the second direction, wherein the impact means comprises a removable snap ring affixed to the plunger.

  • Patent number: 8302944
Abstract: An apparatus that prevents collapse mode and sling-shot mode of the accumulated air spring vibration isolation system is presented. The apparatus is contained in an air spring which is connected to accumulator. The apparatus blocks air flow to the accumulator when the air spring is attempting to bottom out, resulting in a soft pneumatic stop for the suspended mass. High pressure air within the air spring at its lowest height is evacuated to the accumulator, thus precluding a “sling shot” reaction of the suspended mass. The apparatus incorporates a double acting air cylinder with an orifice disk attached to a piston shaft end and an orifice contained within the air spring head. The upper air cylinder volume is vented to the air spring interior compartment through an unrestrictive orifice and the lower air cylinder volume is vented to the high pressure source through a highly restrictive orifice.

  • Patent number: 8297131
Abstract: A flow rate meter that includes a container of known and fixed volume. Electrodes, or sensors, are placed inside the container at several different heights. An electronic circuit uses the electrodes, or sensors, to measure the time it takes this container of known and fixed volume to fill a certain distance with water or water-based solution. The electronic circuit calculates the flow rate in engineering units from this elapsed time by knowing the volume of the container between the fixed electrodes.

Abstract: A scroll compressor having a first compressor body with a first base, a first rib that projects from the first base, and a discharge port. A second compressor body has a second base and a second rib projecting from the second base. The first and second ribs are mutually received in each other to define at least one compression chamber between an intake and discharge port. The relative movement between the first and second compressor bodies is adapted to compress fluid from the intake to the discharge port. The scroll compressor further includes a tip seal projecting axially from the second rib. The tip seal is adapted to engage the first base to seal the compression chamber. The discharge port includes an inward-facing radius, which enables the length of the tip seal in the vicinity of the discharge port to be greater than it would be without the inward-facing radius.
