  • Patent number: 6168079
Abstract: A customer information terminal system having a docking member for supporting a data collection device on a shopping cart, wall or the like. The docking member is dimensioned to receive the data collection device and allow for convenient storage thereof during and after use. The data collection device may take any number of forms, including a consumer assistant data terminal, a pen based data terminal, a scanning gun terminal or the like, and may communicate with a host computer system storing customer shopping data. The docking member may provide one or more degrees of movement, so that the data collection device may be situated in a convenient position. An interlock switch may also be provided to allow for the alternative selection of power sources. When the data collection device is located remote from the docking member, the interlock switch causes the device to be powered by an internal power source.

  • Patent number: 6023952
Abstract: A door handle assembly comprises an interior handle connected to the interior face of a door, a latch mechanism which is operable between latched and unlatched positions to secure the door, an operator mounted to the door and rotatable with respect to the handle, and a rack and pinion assembly to transfer the rotary motion of the operator to the latch mechanism. The operator includes a tumbler assembly. The rack and pinion assembly may include a rack and two pinions one located at each end of the rack. However, other arrangements are possible including gear trains comprising two or three gears driven by the rack. The rack and pinion assembly may be mounted between a pair of planar members which form part of a housing which is proportioned to fit between the latch mechanism and an interior surface of a stile of a door. The rack and pinion assembly permits the latch mechanism and the operator, which have usually been coaxial, to be vertically offset from each other.

  • Patent number: 6025632
Abstract: A semiconductor integrated circuit includes a thermal resistor which is made of a tungsten silicon nitride containing at least about 5% by weight of silicon and formed on a semiconductor substrate directly or via an insulating film. The semiconductor integrated circuit is produced by a method including the steps of: forming a tungsten silicide nitride film on a semiconductor substrate; patterning the tungsten silicide nitride film in a predetermined pattern to form a thermal resistor; and forming a pair of electrodes to be connected to the thermal resistor.

  • Patent number: 6023491
Abstract: A QPSK modulation signal is processed with frequency conversion into an IF signal by a channel selection circuit, and then is converted into a baseband signal by a quadrature demodulator. The baseband signal has a wave thereof shaped by DTFs and then sent to a carrier recovery circuit. An offset frequency of the IF signal detected by an AFC circuit is compensated for by a baseband frequency converter including a complex multiplier and a DVCO. The frequency tracking circuit detects whether an operating frequency of another DVCO in the carrier recovery circuit goes beyond a range. By tracking an oscillation frequency of the DVCO in the baseband frequency converter so as not to go beyond the reference value, frequency deviation of the spectrum of signals which are input to the DTFs is controlled not to go beyond the reference value.

  • Patent number: 5992818
Abstract: A pinch type control valve uses an elastic sleeve having main flanges at each end of a center pinch section with flange gasket extensions on each end. The flanges of the flange gasket extensions project through metal backing flanges and each cooperates with a machined countersunk annular face groove on such metal backing flanges to pull the flange of the gasket extension radially outwardly as it is compressed. Offset annular beads on the opposite faces of the flange of the gasket extension help in achieving the required radial tensioning regardless of the type of flanging of the system. The annular face groove in the metal flange readily accommodates either flat or raised face pipe flanging. The metal backing flange fits between the main flange and the gasket flange and doesn't require the presence of the valve housing. This enables the sleeve to be tested without complete assembly.

  • Patent number: 5613751
Abstract: Light emitting panel assemblies include light emitting panel members and one or more light sources positioned/embedded in a light transition area, which increases the efficiency of light entering the panel members along the light input area to be emitted from one or more light emitting surfaces along the length of the panel members. Light may be reflected or refracted by a surface which changes the path of a portion of light such that it enters the input area of the panel member at a more acceptable angle. A uniform light output distribution may be produced by utilizing a pattern of light extracting deformities.
