Abstract: An endless power transmission belt is provided which comprises a first portion defining the bottom surface of the belt and comprising a plurality of laterally spaced power transmitting ribs and a groove between each adjacent rib, a second portion bonded to the first portion and acting as a tie band therefor and for the third portion which defines the top surface of the belt and also comprises a plurality of laterally spaced power transmitting ribs and a groove between each adjacent rib. The third portion is symmetrical with the first portion and the grooves in each portion provide a relief area between the ribs to allow debris to work through the tie band and become discharged.

Abstract: A self orienting power transmission belt is provided which has a round cross-section and a triangular core. The belt is constructed by wrapping a rubberized fabric about a triangular core comprising a plurality of longitudinally extending load-carrying members embedded in a rubber compound, and curing the resulting wrapped core in a curing mold having a round cross-section. This belt is particularly useful in a multi-planar drive system.
Abstract: A hose construction and method of making same are provided wherein such hose construction has an inside surface defining a passage for conveying fluid under pressure and an electrical conductor disposed along the hose construction and having a pair of opposed terminal ends adapted to be placed in communication with the inside passage for dissipating static electricity caused by fluid flow through the passage and wherein such hose construction has an electrically conductive metal clip connected to one of the terminal ends of the electrical conductor and has a portion thereof disposed substantially flush with the inside surface adjacent an associated end portion of the hose construction to facilitate engagement thereof by a hose connector.

Abstract: A polymeric hose and method of making same are provided wherein such hose comprises an inner base tube, a reinforcing braid made of aramid yarn disposed concentrically around the base tube with the aramid yarn having great affinity for water, a cover tube disposed concentrically around the reinforcing braid, and a moisture-impervious tubular film disposed between the braid and cover tube with the film isolating the aramid yarn and resulting in a tubular zone between the braid and cover tube free of water moisture created bubbles.
Abstract: A vacuum cleaning apparatus comprising a current-carrying vacuum hose provided with a hose connector at one end thereof which has a pigtail-free shielded electrical connector assembly which is installed and self locked in position after assembly of the hose connector and which is particularly adapted to be directly connected with a female electrical connector in a housing assembly of a canister-type vacuum cleaner to thereby provide an economical construction which is also of optimum safety due to its self-locking character and shielding of its protruding metal male electrical connector.

Abstract: A substantially non-misting inking roll having a plurality of interconnecting microporous cavities which have disposed therein an ink formulation containing a plastisol resin as a thickening substance. The roll is formed by shaping an elastomeric material containing a leachable hydrated soluble salt therein into a sleeve about a cylindrical support, curing the elastomer, leaching out the salt to form the interconnecting micropores and disposing in the micropores an ink formulation containing a plastisol resin as a thickening substance in the micropores of the sleeve.

Abstract: A machine and method are provided employing an elongate mandrel supported at one end and unsupported at its opposite end and apparatus carried by the mandrel and being movable therealong between the opposite ends with the apparatus supporting material wound thereon to define a length of the tubular conduit and moving out of supporting relation once the conduit moves axially beyond the opposite end, and the mandrel comprises a fixed helical structure supported concentrically around a central part which is rotatable therewithin and with the helical structure defining a helical groove along the mandrel with a plurality of members defining the apparatus and being operatively connected to the central part and movable within the groove upon rotation of the central part with the members supporting material helically wound thereon and moving out of supporting relation by falling within the length of conduit at the opposite end.
