    Abstract: Respective pulsed power supplies for plasma opening switches each produce a first current and a second current during a power pulse and a difference between the first current and the second current during a terminal portion of the power pulse. The pulsed power supplies are initiated or adjusted in response to measured opening times of the plasma opening switches in order to minimize or eliminate a need for command triggered opening of the plasma opening switches. Command triggered opening may occur in real time for a shot as needed in response to asymmetry of opening times of the plasma opening switches in the array during the shot.

    Abstract: A pulsed power system has an inductive energy storage circuit (42) including a current source (43) and a plasma opening switch (44). The plasma opening switch has a transmission line (51, 52) coupling the current source to a load (41). The plasma opening switch changes from a closed state to an open state when a plasma discharge (45) in the plasma opening switch is driven by magnetic force from a first region along the transmission line to a second region towards the load. Electrical conductors (47, 48) are arranged for providing a stabilizing magnetic field configuration in the first region to magnetically latch the plasma discharge in the first region during charging of the inductive energy storage circuit, and current flowing along the transmission line from the current source to the load tends to disrupt the stabilizing magnetic field configuration and unlatch the plasma discharge from the first region and drive the plasma discharge toward the second region.

    Abstract: Code and data are cloned in a multiprocessor system in order to permit each processor to run concurrently a separate invocation of a program. Each processor uses the same address translation for shared access to the program code in a shared memory, and a different address translation for access to a respective private read-write data region in the shared memory. Initialization of a private data region is performed by copying data from a shared read-only memory region, such as the program region, to the private data region. Some static constructors may access a shared read-write data area that should not be reinitialized by the clone processor. In this case, a working copy of a data region is made, the address translation is remapped for access to the working copy, the static constructors are run, and then the mapping is returned for normal access to the shared data.

    Abstract: Time stamps in an encoded digital motion video data stream (such as an MPEG Transport Stream) are re-stamped for seamless splicing. The re-stamping includes attainment of Presentation Time Stamp (PTS) agreement in the video stream, alignment of audio stream and video stream Presentation Time Stamps, and re-stamping of the Program Clock Reference (PCR) to eliminate jitter and to comply with MPEG standards. The MPEG compliance is achieved by padding, stuffing and insertion of freeze B and P frames and pre-encoded black I frames. Freeze frame insertion can be also achieved by replacing B and P frames by, smaller in size, freeze B and P frames respectively. No frames are discarded such that both spatial and temporal frame accuracy (no extra frame insertion assumed) is achieved.

    Abstract: An analog resistive touch screen is powered by a current source responsive to a stored digital control value. The current source is calibrated by comparing the excitation voltage across the touch screen to a desired voltage to produce a comparison signal, and adjusting the digital control value in response to the comparison signal so that the excitation voltage becomes substantially equal to the desired voltage. The power supply can therefore be easily constructed in a low-voltage CMOS integrated circuit having a minimal power consumption without sacrificing touch screen resolution. Preferably the comparison of the excitation voltage to the reference voltage is performed by an analog-to-digital converter that is later used in a normal conversion mode for digitizing the touch screen coordinates.

    Abstract: For enabling a resolver to have absolute position sensing over a wide displacement range while still obtaining the resolution, accuracy and precision obtainable by operation in an incremental mode, the resolver is provided with a number of terminals for providing offset pitch phase indications as a function of position. A microcomputer is programmed to execute a decoding procedure for reading the offset pitch phase indications and from them computing the absolute position. This method is applicable to linear as well as rotary position sensing. By using multiplexing, digital signal processing and large-scale circuit integration of interfacing the resolver to the microcomputer, the method can achieve absolute position sensing with high reliability and low cost. The offset pitch phase indications are readily provided by inductive coupling between a multiplicity of windings, including a set of offset pitch windings connected to the terminals.
