Abstract: A liquid dispenser for use with a disposable liquid supply container includes valve means for regulating the flow of liquid from the dispenser, support means for holding the container in a loaded position generally elevated above the valve means, a tapping stem for communicating the interior of the container with the valve means absent any liquid storage reservoir other than the container, means for holding the stem in a fixed position for piercing and sealingly engaging the container, and means for controlling the temperature of the liquid stored in the container when the container is in the loaded position. The stem includes a generally elongated body having a piercing end, a discharge end and sealing means for sealingly engaging the container. The stem body includes a passage extending therethrough in communication with the valve means having an intake passage and a discharge passage alligned generally along separate parallel axes and dimensioned to intersect each other.

Abstract: The layer of photoresist on a substrate to be exposed is deformed to approximate the shape of the region of best focus of the image to be projected thereon. The region of best focus is projected into a central region of the resist throughout the exposure field of the image. The deformation is accomplished by conforming the substrate with vacuum to a smoothly curved or spherically curved, permanent, rigid surface in a substrate chuck holding the substrate. The substrate chuck is mounted for motion on a substrate stage so that multiple exposure fields may be formed in the resist.
Abstract: An alternating current power supply for providing a high-voltage alternating current power output from a first low-voltage alternating current power source and a second low-voltage alternating current power source is disclosed. A first alternating current low-voltage power input is coupled to the first low-voltage alternating current power source, and a second alternating current low-voltage power input is coupled to the second low-voltage alternating current power source. A switch simultaneously couples the first low-voltage power input to a first output conductor and the second low-voltage power input to a second output conductor, thereby providing a high-voltage power output between the output conductors. A switch control activates the switch responsive to a phase difference, typically 180 degrees, between the first alternating current power source and the second alternating current power source.
Abstract: This application discloses an apparatus and method for generating and radiating energy at specific radio frequency wavelengths known to adversely affect the nervous systems of small insects such as flies, gnats, cockroaches, termites and the like wherein each is affected by a different frequency or range of frequencies; the apparatus containing a power supply, a voltage selector circuit for generating sequences of specific voltages, a modulator circuit to amplitude modulate each specific voltage about its center level, a multiple frequency generator to convert each modulated voltage into a modulated frequency of both fundamental and harmonic content, a radio frequency transmitter circuit, and a random interval timer circuit to energize and de-energize the radio frequency transmitter circuit in such a manner as to prevent the pest from acquiring an immunity to the radiated energy.
Abstract: A tapping stem is used with a liquid dispenser for dispensing liquid from a disposable liquid container. The stem has a generally elongated body including a piercing end, a discharge end and a peripheral flange affixed to the discharge end. The piercing end has a generally cylindrical portion and an adjacent tapered portion terminating in a sharp tip for piercing the wall of the container. The stem body includes an intake passage and a discharge passage aligned along generally separate, parallel axes and dimensioned to intersect each other. The intake passage forms a channel in the piercing end, which channel extends substantially to the tip.

Abstract: A hinge for joining and aligning two panels includes hinge leaves, each having an integral projection for insertion into a recess in one of the panels. Each of the leaf projections is disposed along an imaginary right circular cylinder having its center axis intersecting the hinge axis and the center axis of the imaginary cylinder of the other leaf projection. When the leaves are positioned in parallel, opposing relationship, the axes of the imaginary cylinders are coincident and the alignment of the hinge axis can be adjusted by rotating the hinge when it is inserted into hinge-mounting recesses that allow for such hinge rotation, such as arcuate. A hinged panel assembly includes the hinge mounted in arcuate grooves that allow for hinge rotation, such as semicircular grooves. The semicircular grooves are formed by clamping the panels together in alignment and cutting a substantially circular groove that is bisected by the joint between the panels.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for measuring conduction current through a sample portion of the surface of the solid conductor that is in contact with a liquid conductor, such as the solid electrolyte of a liquid-solid-liquid battery, is provided. The apparatus includes a probe having a hollow insulating probe body with an interior adapted for holding a small amount of the liquid conductor. The probe body insulates the probe liquid conductor from the surrounding liquid conductor and includes a tip having an opening in communication with the probe interior. The tip is adapted for making sealed contact with the solid conductor surface. The conduction current through the sample area can thereby be isolated and measured.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for recording and playing back a sales presentation is disclosed. A telephone interface device is connected to a telephone base, handset and recorder to permit recordation of a sales message using the telephone mouth piece as the recorder microphone. The recorded message has the same sound quality when transmitted over the phone lines as does a normal, live transmission. Transit to and from live and recorded voice is undetected by the party hearing the sales presentation over the phone. Use of the telephone interface device and the recorded sales presentation precludes fatigue and discouragement on the part of the telemarketing sales representative in the face of repeated repetitions of the same sales message and frequent rejections by prospective customers.
Abstract: A static load tester is shown that provides tensile testing of plated test specimens to detect hydrogen embrittlement damage from plating processes. The functional components of the device are centrally aligned within a channel of an I-beam frame. A load cell and electronic readout provide the user with a measure of the tensile force applied to up to eight test specimens mounted end to end in a tester. Tension is applied to the specimens through use of a simple threaded rod and nut load application system at the base of the device. A static load tester may be incorporated into each channel of the I-beam frame, thereby providing a double testing unit. Additionally, a series of I-beam frame tester configurations may be incorporated into one multiple testing unit. Each multiple testing unit has a number of static load testers equal to double the number of I-beam frames mounted into the unit.
