Patent number: 7379767Abstract: An electrode for laryngeal electromyography that is attachable to an insert device, endotracheal tune or other similar device that is also size adjustable by cutting to size. The attachable and size adjustable surface electrode of this invention consists of a flexible plate having an anterior and a posterior surface specifically for inserting in the human laryngopharynx adjacent to the cricothyroideus muscles (the vocal cords). An electrical conductive plate is mounted on the anterior surface to provide an electric contact with the cricothyroideus muscles. An insulated wire extends from the electrical conductive plate for monitoring or delivering electrical pulses to the cricothyroideus muscles. There are marked graduations parallel to a center line on the electrical conductive plate for cutting and sizing the flexible plate and electrical conductive plate to the size of the patient's laryngopharynx.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2006Date of Patent: May 27, 2008Inventor: James Lee Rea

Patent number: 6676220Abstract: A dump rack for attachment to pickups and other vehicles that is used to haul materials, tools or supplies. The dump rack of this invention has a stationary frame that attaches on the sidewalls of a pickup box or other vehicle. The stationary frame has side members attachable to the top edge of the pickup bed sidewalls and a cross member that fits at and within the front of the bed. A pivoting frame is pivotally attached to the stationary frame. A front end of a dump rack is pivotally attached to the pivoting frame. The rear of the dump frame has rear pivot legs which are pivotally attached to the dump frame and to a rear end of the side members on the stationary frame. A lift mechanism operates on the pivoting frame to pivot the pivoting frame between a lower position and an upper position. As the lift mechanism lifts the front of the pivoting frame, the front of the dump rack is raised and the rear of the dump rack is pivoted rearward and downward.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2001Date of Patent: January 13, 2004Inventor: Michael F. Patent number: 6438920Abstract: A hybrid truss and a system of fabricating a building using a hybrid truss is provided. The hybrid truss is designed to span large widths without center support. Each hybrid truss is typically made with two symmetrical truss members that join at the peak. Each member is made with an upper cord and a lower cord having cross bracing between the two cords. A peak end member is attached to the ends of the cords to join the two truss members at the peak to form the hybrid truss. Attached at the lower end of each truss member is a sleeve. The sleeve is rigidly attached to at least the lower cords and cross bracing. The sleeve redirects outward forces into the top of a post in a downward force and a slight rotational force. The sleeve is designed to slide over the top of a post or column to attach and properly position the truss on the top of the posts or columns. Vertical adjustment to level the hybrid truss is provided by vertical movement of the sleeve on the post.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2000Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Inventors: Russel J. Patent number: 6360490Abstract: The containment system of this invention is an enclosure that includes an air supported canopy having walls and flooring to enclose a portion or an entire structure. The canopy is generally a flexible, puncture, air impermeable, and cut resistant canopy supported by air beams and customized air bladders. Side and end flaps or tarps hang downward from the canopy and may be held outward from the structure by air bags. The air bladders are used to support the enclosure above the structure and to hold side flaps out and away from the structure. Lower air bladders can be used along lower edges if needed. A system of wire cables enclosed in smooth, lightweight casings, or equivalent, attached and secured to the air bladders provides for movement of the enclosure along the structure. The entire enclosure can be moved without disassembly and reassembly.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2001Date of Patent: March 26, 2002Inventor: Richard J Cotriss

Patent number: 6216273Abstract: A nursing blanket and method for covering the torso, and exposed breast of a nursing mother and the head of the feeding infant, to provide privacy and coverage while breast-feeding. The blanket is comprised of a single thickness fabric blanket, the main body or midsection of which is an oval. The ends of the blanket are attached to a shoulder strap on one end, and an arm sleeve on the opposing end. The shoulder strap is comprised of a double thickness of stretchable knit material which is sewn into a narrow strip and curved back on itself to form a loop. This loop fits over the mother's hand and slides up the arm, to be secured on her shoulder, opposite the breast which will be used for nursing. The arm sleeve on the opposing end of the blanket slides over the mothers remaining hand and rests on the forearm. The infant's head rests on the arm which is covered by the sleeve, and the blanket then comes up and over the baby's head, and crosses his body.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1999Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Inventor: Cherilyn Elaine Williams

Patent number: 6086048Abstract: A board puller for removing boards on a structure generally having a board cue which contacts the back side of boards to be removed, a fulcrum with a pivot that interacts with the frame structure and a handle for providing leverage. The board cue is pivotally attached towards one end of the fulcrum. The handle is rigidly attached to the other end of the fulcrum, but made so that the angle can be adjusted, in the preferred embodiment. In the center of the fulcrum is a pivot typically consisting of a curved or semi-circular member extending perpendicular for the fulcrum. Gauges are provided which are attached to the board cue. The gauges positions and holds the board cue on the boards being removed. This provides a means to remove the board in such a manner that splintering and board breakage is minimized. The board puller can be used with or without the gauges. In operation, the board cue is positioned behind the boards to be pulled or removed.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1998Date of Patent: July 11, 2000Inventor: William D. Owen

Patent number: 5819644Abstract: An automatic can smasher having a frame assembly with a pair of parallel channel members in a spaced relationship for receiving a can to be smashed. A motor is attached to the underside of the frame assembly. The motor drives a plunger arm assembly having a reciprocating plunger that compresses and smashes the can. A switch mounted on a switch mounting plate is operated when a can is placed within the frame assembly. The switch activates the motor and the reciprocating plunger. A hole through the frame assembly in front of the switch mounting plate allows the smashed can to fall through the frame assembly. A can receptacle can be placed over the frame assembly for placement of a plurality of cans and for feeding the cans one at a time into the frame assembly. When the plunger is retracted, one smashed can drops through the hole in the frame assembly, the switch is released and opened and the next can is allowed to fall into place for being smashed.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1996Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Inventor: Mark A.
