  • Patent number: 4553642
Abstract: The brake beams of a single axle railway car wheel truck are swingingly suspended from a body portion of the car and engage with the axle housings of the wheel and axle assembly to enable the brake beams to move laterally and longitudinally with the wheel and axle assembly when this assembly is forced to move with respect to the body portion of the car. Movement of the brake beams with the wheel and axle assembly enables the brake heads on the brake beams to be properly aligned with braking surfaces on the wheels under substantially all operating conditions of the wheel truck even though substantially all of the weight of the brake beam and actuator assemblies is borne by the body portion of the railway car.

  • Patent number: 4524882
Abstract: The open end of a substantially cylindrical injection molded resilient plastic container, such as a paint pail, has a rim system integrally molded to the container wall to rigidify the open end of the container to facilitate filling the container using standard automatic filling equipment. An outer continuous rim and an inner discontinuous rim concentric with the outer rim are joined by a bridge member to form a substantially rigid rim system at the open end of the container. The rim system coacts with a closure lid to form a removable and resealable end closure on the container. Drainage or expulsion of fluid from between the inner and outer rims is provided for by drain openings or slots which make the inner rim discontinuous.

  • Patent number: 4508037
Abstract: In a railway hopper car with several bottom dump doors, the doors are operated by a main door operating member in the form of a thrust bar running the length of the car. The bar, when moved, rotates levers which rotate actuator shafts which move door operating linkage arrangements, opening and closing the dump doors. An adjustable positioning structure is provided on each lever to cause adjustment of the individual dump door positions. The adjustment is accomplished by tightening or loosening bolts in the adjustor, which is fixed on an actuator shaft running to the linkage arrangement. The adjustor and actuator shaft rotate on a bearing with respect to the lever, but are held in locked adjusted position by the adjustor bolts abutting on flanges welded to the lever.
