Abstract: There are disclosed compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein Ar is ##STR2## Het is ##STR3## R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 are each, independently, hydrogen, alkyl, aralkyl, alkoxy, carbalkoxy, trifluoromethyl, halo, cyano, or nitro;R.sup.4 is hydrogen, alkyl, aralkyl, alkoxy, carbalkoxy, halo, or trifluoromethyl;Y is NH, O, or S;X is CH, or N;or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, which, by virtue of their ability to bind to the benzodiazepine receptor, and prevent electrically or chemically induced seizures are useful as anxiolytic and anticonvulsant agents.

Abstract: Novel compounds of the formula: ##STR1## are disclosed wherein Ar and Ar.sup.1 are phenyl, sustituted phenyl or pyridinyl, "alk" is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 straight or branched hydrocarbon chain, and R is H, loweralkylcarbonyl, arylcarbonyl, or aminocarbonyl where the amino is unsubstituted or substituted by one or two groups selected from loweralkyl or aryl. The compounds of this invention are useful in the treatment of allergic disorders.

Abstract: This invention provides an oxidized derivative of rapamycin in which the hydroxyl at the 42-position has been oxidized to the corresponding ketone or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, which by virtue of its immunosuppressive and antifungal activity is useful in treating transplantation rejection, host vs. graft disease, autoimmune diseases, diseases of inflammation, and fungal infections and a process for the preparation of this oxidized derivative of rapamycin.

Abstract: N'-Acyl-N-alkyl-1,3-diaminopropanes of formulaR.sup.1 CONH(CH.sub.2).sub.3 NHR.sup.2(where R.sup.1 is R- or RNH where R is a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon group and R.sup.2 is alkyl) are prepared by selectively acylating N-alkyl-1,3-diaminopropanes. In the process a N-alkyl-1,3-aminopropane is reacted with an aldehyde to form a hexahydropyrimidine, the hexahydropyrimidine is acylated and the acylated hexahydropyrimidine is then hydrolyzed to give the product.
