Patent number: 4867389Abstract: A longitudinally movable chuck for winding cores onto which web-like material, such as paper etc., is wound is longitudinally movable by means of a motorized drive. The chuck includes a clamping core which grips into the winding core. The end face of the winding core is supported against a stop of the clamping core. The clamping core is longitudinally movable on a central part of the chuck. Between the central part and the clamping core a compression spring is located for exerting an axially acting clamping force on the winding core. The central part is provided with a switch which is actuable by the longitudinally shifted clamping core. The switch acts on the motorized drive to achieve a relatively precisely adjustable clamping force.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1988Date of Patent: September 19, 1989Assignee: J. M. Patent number: 4867847Abstract: Expanding body which is essentially designed as a hollow beam and, viewed in the cross-section, composed of several flexible walls. At least one of these walls has a higher expandability than the other walls. The internal chamber of the expanding body can be pressurized by a variable fluid pressure. On the use of such an expanding body in a paper machine headbox a wall with a relatively low expandability forms the downstream end piece of a flow guide wall. Its position, which determines the clear width of the discharge opening, is alterable by varying the internal pressure.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1988Date of Patent: September 19, 1989Assignee: J.M. Patent number: 4849096Abstract: The apparatus has a main line having stages of cleaning batteries (S1-S5). The respective battery of each individual stage consists of cleaners such as hydroclones which produce three fractions. The medium fraction is conveyed from stage to stage. The heavy fraction of the first stage is cleaned in a first secondary circuit (N1) and the light fraction of all main line stages S1 to S5 is cleaned further in a second secondary circuit N2. The heavy fraction of the main line stages (S2 to S5) following the first stage (S1) is conveyed as accept to a paper machine reservoir, as is the light fraction of the first secondary circuit (N1). The heavy fraction of the second secondary circuit (N2) is conveyed to the inlet of the main line first stage (S1), whereas the light fraction of this second secondary circuit (N2) is cleaned further. Patent number: 4836895Abstract: A headbox for dispensing a machine-width suspension flow from a machine-width nozzle type discharge channel which is defined by two machine-width flow control walls converging on each other. Located on the downstream end is a machine-width discharge gap for the flow of suspension. One of the two flow control walls is for fine adjustment of the discharge gap width and is equipped with an elastically flexible wall section which extends across the machine width. This wall section is equipped with a number of areal heating elements in a succession across the machine width, with which material layers having different coefficients of heat expansion may be coordinated. By appropriate heating of individual heating elements it is possible to achieve a local deformation of the flexible wall section and thus a local change of the discharge gap width and a correction of the basis weight cross profile of the paper web produced.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1987Date of Patent: June 6, 1989Assignee: J. Patent number: 4834018Abstract: A coating device where the pressurized coating space formed between the doctor element and the material web and/or the counter roll carrying it is defined by a regulating plate on the inlet side relative to the material web. A guide device is so arranged in the coating space that coating mixture will circulate around it on all sides in one direction of rotation. The guide device generally leaves only relatively narrow flow channels open in the coating chamber so that harmful turbulent flows are extensively avoided which through pulsating air inclusions might lead to defects in the applied coating.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1988Date of Patent: May 30, 1989Assignee: J. Patent number: 4821429Abstract: Taught is an air guide box for stabilizing the run of a web, for instance a paper web, specifically for the drying section of a paper machine. The air guide box is connected to a blowing air supply and extends transverse to the running direction of the paper web. The paper web proceeds, preferably together with a backing belt, from one drying cylinder to another drying cylinder. A first wall of the air guide box, viewed in cross section, extends along the paper web or the backing belt forming a first gap therewith. A second wall extends along the cylinder surface of the first drying cylinder. Provided in the first wall is an opening which extends across the length of the air guide box and serves to remove the air from the first gap into the interior of the air guide box. Said opening is connected with an intake line of the blowing air supply.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1987Date of Patent: April 18, 1989Assignee: J. M. Voith, GmbHInventor: Ralf Sieberth

Patent number: 4818377Abstract: A defrothing apparatus whose inlet opening of the foamed liquid contained in a foam duct of a primary flotation apparatus is provided in the bottom of the foam duct. Starting from the lower area of the defrothing apparatus, a rotary flow (potential vortex) is generated in the apparatus by a recirculated lqiuid quantity from a secondary flotation apparatus. In the core of the rotary flow the gas quantity (air) is collected and removed through a removal pipe. Consequently, the foamed liquid from the foam duct of the primary flotation stage which is pumped to the secondary flotation stage contains small shares of gas relative to the total quantity of liquid, thereby allowing the pump to be optimally sized of efficiency and better control of the system.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1987Date of Patent: April 4, 1989Assignee: J.M. Patent number: 4812209Abstract: A headbox, preferably for a paper machine, has a nozzle chamber with a slice gap, which is confined by a top and a bottom lip wall and by two side walls. The nozzle chamber is divided for the production of multi-layer fibrous stock webs into two or more machine-wide flow channels. For this purpose at least one wedge-shaped partition wall extends through the nozzle chamber from one side wall to the other, with this partition wall projecting through the slice gap in the direction of flow. Each of the two side walls is subdivided along the partition wall into two side wall sections. The partition wall is clamped between the side wall sections in the area of each side wall.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1987Date of Patent: March 14, 1989Assignee: J. M. Patent number: 4812229Abstract: The screen wire has depressions (5), on the base of which there are fine slits (4) or wire holes. The depressions are generally oblong, their longitudinal extension being parallel or slightly inclined to the axis of rotation of a rotor and the screening blades (2) skirting close to the screen surface. The front edge of the depressions (5)--viewed in the direction of rotation of the screening blades (2)--is inclined towards the enveloping surface of the screen, and has an angle of between 15.degree. and 60.degree. from the surface perpendicular and is preferably inclined at 30.degree.. The slits or rows-of-holes run parallel to the front edge of the depressions (5). These screen cages for the screening of screening fiber suspensions provide better screening efficiency and they have less blockage.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1987Date of Patent: March 14, 1989Assignee: J. Patent number: 4809445Abstract: In a device for stabilizing the run of a material web, which successively runs over two rolls, namely a delivering and a receiving roll, there is a box provided that extends between the delivering and the receiving roll across the width of the paper web. This box has a so-called guide wall that extends along the course of the material web, with an air gap remaining between the guide wall and the material web. Additionally provided on the box are means which create a vacuum in the air gap. In a device of this type, the guide wall is shaped in a way such that its spacing from the theoretical trajectory plane tangent to the two rolls is in the center area of the material web greater than it is in the araa of the material web edges. A device of this type serves to better stabilize the smooth running of the material web on its way between the rolls.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 1988Date of Patent: March 7, 1989Assignee: J. M. Voith GmbHInventors: Richard Meyer, Helmut Heinzmann, Wolfgang Muller
