Patent number: 5127604Abstract: An optical system focuses a portion of electromagnetic energy into a spot on a focal plane and rotates the focused spot about an optic axis. A plurality of detectors is disposed in a detector plane. The array of detectors is arranged in a plurality of sets of such detectors. Each one of such sets of detectors is disposed along a different region extending radially from a central region of the array. When the detector and focal planes are skewed, a processor processes signals produced by a selected one of the plurality of sets of detectors. The selected one of the sets is the set disposed in one of the radially extending regions disposed along, or adjacent to, a line formed by the intersection of the skewed detector and focal planes.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1991Date of Patent: July 7, 1992Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventor: Benjamin Klaus, Jr.

Patent number: 5120997Abstract: A spread spectrum signal detector for sampling a modulated carrier employing a zero-crossing detection means having two independent control loops, a first loop for a zero-mean threshold control and a second loop for AGC control. An IF sampler quantizeds the received spread spectrum signals at IF and provides high immunity to interference or jamming. The IF signal is sampled at a number of quarter cycle intervals to allow sampling in sequence of the in-phase (I) and quadrature-phase (Q) components. The output of the IF sampler is two bits, a sign bit and a magnitude bit. The zero-man threshold control loop using only the sign bit of the I and Q samples sets a threshold level (T0) to detect the zero-crossings of a received waveform. Two magnitude threshold levels are set at fixed offsets from the T0 threshold level.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1990Date of Patent: June 9, 1992Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventor: Robert H. Cantwell

Patent number: 5119425Abstract: A pseudo-random or transient synthesized signal is provided by analysis of a plurality of related signals by vector quantization of linear predictive coding coefficients (cluster representatives) of time blocks of the signals and providing cumulative probability matrices for the transition from one cluster representative for one block to a cluster representative of the next successive block of each of the signals. Patent number: 5117658Abstract: A washing machine having a mid-level pivot and traverse suspension system. The washing machine includes a tub assembly disposed over a support, with the assembly having a center of mass disposed at approximately the same axial position as the typical out-of-balance load. Patent number: 5117232Abstract: An apparatus and method for pseudo-random noise (PN) code correlation in a GPS receiver employing sign and magnitude input weighting for each of the in-phase (I) and quadrature-phase (Q) samples of a received PN-code modulated carrier. A programmable R factor provides input A/D sample sign and magnitude weighting control of outside crossing samples for interference rejection of other RF signals interfering with the received PN-code modulated RF carrier. The R factor weighting determines if the A/D samples are from a linear or adaptive A/D converter. In-phase reference (IREF) signals and quadrature-phase reference (QREF) signals, produced by an internally generated PN-code reference, are provided to a plurality of I and Q multi-Y-tap correlator/integrators for correlation with the I and Q samples. The apparatus correlates I and Q samples obtained from IF sampling or baseband sampling of the received PN-code modulated carrier.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1991Date of Patent: May 26, 1992Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventor: Robert H. Patent number: 5113562Abstract: A clothes dryer door assembly adapted for mounting in alternate positions so that the door assembly can be made to open from either side. The door assembly includes an outer panel to which a handle, latching mechanism, and hinges are mounted, and inner liner having a bowed out lower portion forming an internal chamber through which air is exhausted to a lint filter. In reversing the mounting side, the inner liner is first disconnected from the door panel and then reconnected after the door panel has been inverted. Thus, the hinges, handle, and latching mechanism of the door panel are relocated for mounting to the opposite side of the access opening of the dryer cabinet, but the lower portion of the liner remains on the bottom.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1991Date of Patent: May 19, 1992Assignee: Speed Queen CompanyInventor: Timothy K. Patent number: 5115375Abstract: A retainer sleeve having a cylindrically curved wall of resilient material spaced radially from its longitudinal centerline for defining a tapered leading end portion, a midportion and an opposing trailing end portion of the sleeve. The defining wall has extended through its thickness a longitudinally coextensive first opening with an open end portion in the trailing end portion of the sleeve disposed in opposing relationship with a hinge portion of the wall. The hinge portion terminates in a closed end of a longitudinal second opening in the wall having an opposing open end portion disposed in diametric opposing relationship with an opposing open end portion of the first opening in the leading end portion of the sleeve. Thus, the first and second openings form therebetween first and second opposing flexible legs which have in the midportion of the sleeve respective proximal end portions.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1990Date of Patent: May 19, 1992Assignee: Switchcraft Inc.Inventor: Antonio A. Patent number: 5111484Abstract: An adaptive distortion cancellation algorithm minimizes intersymbol interference (ISI) when demodulating signals in the presence of distortion over fading and dispersive channels. The algorithm computes preliminary estimates of received data and feeds them to a canceller structure. The canceller checks the preliminary estimates and then makes a series of subsequent estimates by modifying the elements of the original received estimated data sequence. Each estimate generates a distortion cancellation quantity which is added to the received data estimate to generate a sequence of values; a final decision is determined by that subsequent estimate which is closest to an ideal state. The preliminary estimates are made using a conventional transversal filter whose coefficients are controlled by one of the existing filter tap algorithms.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1991Date of Patent: May 5, 1992Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventor: Panagiotis D.
