  • Patent number: 5629294
Abstract: Compositions and methods for prevention of adhesion formation, whereby an effective amount of one or more adhesion preventing RGD-containing peptides is administered for a period of time sufficient to permit tissue repair. The RGD-containing peptide is further characterized in that it inhibits platelet aggregation and does not induce inflammation or trauma at the site of administration. The RGD-containing peptide is preferably administered in conjunction with a delivery vehicle (e.g., microcapsules, microspheres, liposomes, viscous instillates and absorbable mechanical barriers) useful for maintaining local concentrations of the peptide at an effective level.

  • Patent number: 5621895
Abstract: A frame-structured bus system, particularly for a local operation network for automotive applications, is disclosed in which a plurality of bus stations share a data bus, and in which one of the bus stations generates a sequence of data frames of constant bit length. Each data frame includes an isochronous frame module and an asynchronous frame module, and the division of each data frame into the isochronous and asynchronous frame modules is dynamically variable. The message transmitted by a station is passed through a central star coupler to all stations.

  • Patent number: 5618978
Abstract: A method of producing a choline having a high purity without containing by-products by using a molecule-inclusion complex of the choline as a starting material. A choline inclusion complex without containing by-products is obtained by reacting an aqueous solution of the choline containing, as by-products, those cholines to which are added ethylene oxides with host molecules such as of 1,1'-bis-.beta.-naphthol, and is further reacted with a carbon dioxide gas in order to obtain an aqueous solution of a choline carbonate and/or a choline bicarbonate of a high purity, which is then subjected to the electrolysis using a cation-exchange membrane as a diaphragm, in order to obtain an aqueous solution of the choline of a high purity without containing by-products. The choline that is obtained is a strongly basic compound having a high purity and is very useful as a photoresist-developing solution.

  • Patent number: 5614562
Abstract: Organoselenones of the formulaR.sub.1 --Se(O.sub.2)--(CH.sub.2).sub.n --Xwherein R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of aryl, vinyl, acetylenyl, and aralkyl, n is an integer equal to 2 to 6 and X is a leaving group selected from the group consisting of halides, sulfonates and selenones; were surprisingly found to be useful as alkylating agents which possessed a high degree of selectivity for nitrogen nucleophiles without the usual increased preference for sulfur nucleophiles. This property allows the effective use of these compounds as anti-cancer alkylating agents suitable for use in drug-resistant cell lines which display either thiol mediated drug resistance or MER(+)-mediated drug resistance. Two methods of synthesizing these compounds are also provided.
