  • Patent number: 4147451
Abstract: A valve installation for a flume wherein a preinstalled liner is cast in place at the time of flume construction. The valve body with sealing gasket is later installed within the liner. Wedge plates and associated force-applying bevelled washers are installed around the periphery of the valve body within the cast groove which receives the liner. The bevelled washer can be actuated to force the valve body against a gasket compressing the gasket to form a seal and for locking the valve body in the liner. Removal for servicing is easily accomplished by the removal of the bevelled washers.

  • Patent number: 4120645
Abstract: Sulfur oxides have a strong affinity for free lime and readily form gypsum anhydrite. By utilizing 2200.degree. F or higher on-gas containing reduced quantities of sulfur to the preheat zone of a material treating apparatus, large quantities of sulfur can be removed from gases evolved in the rotary kiln. Utilizing lower sulfur content on-gas to preheat will substantially improve the ability of the system to lower both sulfur and alkali levels in the clinker. Substantially free lime in the form of fines is introduced into the kiln off-gas stream to form gypsum anhydrite which is removed and has the potential to be utilized as a by-product. Essentially all of the remaining gaseous sulfur that has not been absorbed by the lime bearing dust is absorbed by the free lime in the pellets in the preheat zone of a material treating apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4106707
Abstract: A feeder distributor is mounted above an annular crushing chamber of a gyratory crusher and operates to distribute feed uniformly around the entire circumference rather than at one revolving point. A rotating cylinder has a rotating bottom plate of larger diameter connected to it by ribs leaving a circumferential opening between the cylinder and the plate. The circumferential opening is sized to prevent the flow of material when the cylinder and plate are not rotating. When rotating, the material is thrown off of the plate around the entire circumference of the plate by centrifugal force. This provides good continuous distribution of material around the entire crusher chamber regardless of the feed rate into the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4103478
Abstract: A support for a rear mounted flexible grass catcher container is mounted directly to the mower body and is free to pivot back for clearing the container from the mower shroud, when necessary for service purposes, without disconnecting the support from the mower. The support pivot is disposed in a manner that the applied load from the grass catcher container causes a resulting moment which tends to hold the container rear support in operative position without the necessity of providing clamps or catches. In addition, the rear support serves as a barrier for the container preventing its engagement with the adjacent rear wheels of the mower.

  • Patent number: 4097794
Abstract: Electrical potentials are induced in the rotating shaft of many rotary electrical machines because of stray flux that exists in the machines. Unless provided with adequate ground insulation to interrupt the circuit, currents can flow through the machine bearings and other parts to ground and thereby expose the machine to severe damage. The device of this invention provides a sandwich-like ground insulation with a conductor therebetween and measures the voltage across that portion of the insulation between the conductor and either the bearing housing or ground to indicate if there is a circuit for excessive current leakage from the bearing to ground.

  • Patent number: 4084756
Abstract: Centerline of the pinion and gear is offset from the centerline of the bore in which the pinion bearing housing is contained. A change holds the bearing housing in operating position and is also operable to rotatably adjust the pinion housing, the O.D. of which is eccentric relative to its I.D. Thus rotation of the bearing housing within the bore effects the adjustment of the vertical height of the pinion relative to the driving gear.

  • Patent number: 4069406
Abstract: A high voltage gas insulated circuit breaker in which a resistance shunts the main interrupter contacts to control the magnitude of the surge voltage experienced when the interrupter is closing. The resistance includes a resistor switch comprising a plurality of stacks of resistor segments connected in parallel. The smaller surface area of the segments tends to resist cracking due to mechanical thermal stresses and provides a higher resistivity thereby being capable of withstanding more voltage. The parallel stacks of resistor segments provides for a more compact resistor switch without sacrificing the basic operational requirement.
