  • Patent number: 4112176
Abstract: There is provided a polyurethane ground rubber composite and a new method for formation and preparation thereof. The composite is suitable for use in laminated and other surfacing or as a surfacing and has excellent flexibility, resiliency, weatherability, and elastomeric qualities; and comprises particulate vulcanized rubber substantially coated on each particle with about 3 to about 8 microns, and in some instances about 3 to about 10 microns, of a cross-linked binder derived from an essentially solvent-free polymeric isocyanate prepolymer having a number average molecular weight of 800-4000, the cross-linking of the isocyanate prepolymer being accomplished by controlled reaction with water using an equivalent ratio of NCO/OH of 0.14/1 to 0.

  • Patent number: 3979928
Abstract: Fine gauge knitting machines utilized in the production of hosiery and comprising needle cylinders three and three-quarter to four inches in diameter and carrying 300 to 469 needles are modified for the production of outerwear garments and the like knitted with relatively large loose loops by replacing the sinker caps thereof by sinker caps which are 0.060 to 0.100 of an inch less in interior diameter than those used in such machines for the production of hosiery, and replacing the sinker throw-in cam and the sinker throw-out cam by cams which differ from those used in the machine for the production of hosiery to use this additional space for sinker movement, by replacing the sinkers by sinkers having bottom legs 0.030 to 0.075 of an inch shorter than those used in corresponding conventional machines for the production of hosiery, and by replacing a stitch cam or cams by those which are 0.038 to 0.

  • Patent number: 3941899
Abstract: A method of applying to an anode for use in fusion electrolysis a coating for protection of the anode against surrounding influences, comprising delivering the material of the coating in finely dispersed form onto the anode with sufficient heat content and impact energy to cause adhesion between the material and the surface of the anode and consolidation of the material. Preferably the material is applied by means of a plasma burner and, for an anode to be used for the electrolytic production of aluminium, includes aluminium oxide and facultatively aluminium, the thickness of the coating beeing about 0.1 to 1.0 mm.
