  • Patent number: 5109269
Abstract: An SMT electronic component is mounted to a solder-bearing floatation plate by fusible or other heat-responsive releasable mounting means which suspend the component above the floatation plate. The bottom of the floatation plate is effectively substantially the mirror image of a component-positioning pad formed on the board surface adjacent the solder-bearing contact pads corresponding to the electrical contacts on the component. In the assembly process, the floatation plate is placed on the positioning pad. The solder on the bottom of the floatation plate has a melting point lower than the release temperature of the mounting means and the melting point of the solder on the contact pads. With the floatation plate on the component-positioning pad, on heating the solder on the floatation plate liquifies first, wetting the component-positioning pad and floating the floatation plate and component on a thin film of molten solder.

  • Patent number: 4965927
Abstract: Apparatus for applying surface-mounted electronic components to printed circuit boards incorporates a fixture for populating an entire board in a single operation. The fixture comprises an array of upstanding open-ended tubular guides rigidly supported in a block of elastomeric material. Component-dispensing magazines are inserted into the guides. Novel ejectors in each magazine dispense components from all of the magazines simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 4942045
Abstract: In this invention, a grape juice concentrate is produced by crushing grapes to extract grape juice (10, 11), subjecting the grape juice to a first stage vacuum concentration (19) before it ferments by heating the grape juice and subjecting it to a low pressure (vacuum) to separate it into a distillate and a grape juice concentrate which has a Baume between 25 and 40, subsequently subjecting the concentrate to a second stage of vacuum concentration (31), also by heating under vacuum conditions, and packaging (42) the second stage concentrate when its Baume lies between 38 and 55. The second stage concentrate can be creamed (43) by high speed agitation before packaging, provided it is sufficiently fluent (e.g. a Baume of 40).

  • Patent number: 4815689
Abstract: A side-mounted rear view mirror for automobiles is formed by mounting a pair of component mirrors, rigidly supported in close side-by-side relationship with their reflective surfaces lying in a common plane, to the door, or directly to the frame of the vehicle, adjacent the driver's or passenger's side window. The mounting means position one of the component mirrors outside the vehicle and the other inside the vehicle and allow the component mirrors to be rotated as a unit about common vertical and horizontal axes to accommodate the driver's size and posture.

  • Patent number: 4278273
Abstract: A personal safety restraint assembly for vehicle occupants employs a broad band of flexible webbing or sheet material to distribute the restraining forces over a large area of the occupant's rib cage and pelvic region. One end of the band is secured to a floor mounted support, located at the rear innermost side of the seat. The other end is slidably attached to a guide mounted to the adjacent vehicle door by means of a convenient manually positionable locking mechanism, whereby the tension applied to the restraining band can be varied at will.
