  • Patent number: 6755600
Abstract: A cargo bar having reduced costs due in part to being constructed from square tubes and due to being collapsible to a length that fits a 4 foot pallet so as to facilitate shipping and storage. Pressure induced extension of the cargo bar against opposed truck walls is provided by a rack and pinion gear arrangement, the rack teeth provided on a first tube wall and the pinion teeth provided on a pivotal lever mounted to a second tube. The bar ends have pressure pads that will conform to side walls of a truck or van and the tube interior is alternately fitted with retractable track pins that extend through the pads and retract behind the pads to accommodate different cargo bar systems.

  • Patent number: 6711877
Abstract: A pocket conveyor for use in food processing in which the pockets move independently from each other. Each pocket contains a portion of food which is conveyed from one processing machine to another in the course of food production. Independent movement of the pockets provides for, among other things, greater efficiencies in food production by allowing independent operation of the various processing machines along the conveyor as well as allowing the use of multiple processing machines for each of one or more processes. Further, independent movement of the pockets eliminates the maintenance issues associated with pockets which are chain-linked, such as chain and motor related failure.

  • Patent number: 6655335
Abstract: A small engine for outdoor power equipment wherein fuel is pumped to the engine's combustion chamber by a reciprocating piston. A desired rate of reciprocation is determined with the engine under load, e.g., with a grass trimmer cutting grass. Avoidance of undesired engine racing is accomplished by restricting airflow to the carburetor which prevents significant increased reciprocation over that desired when cutting. A choke mechanism is provided with a pair of end portions, one of which closes air to the carburetor for starting and the other provides a spaced barrier for inhibiting blow-back. The one end portion includes an inset that seats in the opening through which air enters the carburetor for providing rigidity and to insure closing.

  • Patent number: 6643933
Abstract: A guide bar for a chain saw of a tree harvester adapted for applying treatment material to the stump upon severing a tree. The guide bar, typically a laminated bar includes an inner channel in the inner laminate that connects to a series of dispersal holes in the outer laminates and along the bar length. Multiple inlet holes also in the outer laminate or laminates are provided in a rear region of the bar for directing material flow into the channel. Only one of the inlet holes is in use and the other inlet holes are plugged. The invention provides for plugging unused inlet holes with a member (plug) that slides into position over the unused inlet holes at the inner side of the outer laminate. Numerous variations are proposed including both automatic, where treatment material flow generates an inner pressure that urges a member against the inner side of the unused hole and manual, where a blocking tab is manually slid into place at the inner side of the hole.

  • Patent number: 6629608
Abstract: A corner protecting device of vacuum molded paper fiber wherein the device is molded onto a porous mold form, the mold form having valleys about twice the width of the material thickness when molded causing the material at the two sides of the valleys to merge and form columnar-like lands connected by rebounding arch-shaped material thus producing a complex resistance to crushing. Splitting is reduced by undulating tunnel configurations, bottom flanges and a dome shaped peak.

  • Patent number: 6612210
Abstract: A shape sawing system for sawing lumber pieces from a curved cant. The cant is scanned by scanners and the scan data is input to a computer. The computer determines a curved path for the saw to follow in sawing the cant into lumber pieces. The saw is laterally and pivotally adjustable to follow the determined path established by the computer. The saw is a plurality of circular saw blades having a defined cutting edge portion that is inclined from a leading point at the bottom of the cant to a trailing point at the top of the cant. The point of pivot of the saws is between the leading point and the trailing point of the cutting edge portion. The saw assembly is mounted on pads having a low coefficient of friction. Pressurized air and lubricant are delivered to the pads to reduce the friction.

  • Patent number: 6571636
Abstract: A wheel-type inspection device includes within the wheel structure a sensor head. The sensor head carries both ultrasonic transducers and a surface tracking structure maintained at fixed distance relative to the transducers. In operation, the surface tracking structure remains against the inner surface of the tire and thereby maintains a fixed distance between the transducers and the surface of the work piece under inspection. As a result, reflected sound energy analysis need not compensate for variations in distance between the transducers and the work piece because no such variations in distance occur under the disclosed device.

  • Patent number: 6570501
Abstract: A hand gun case body that is fully enclosed except for a door opening including a hinged door that latches to the case to close the opening. A slide inside the case body slides into and out of a door opening and carries a hand gun that is accordingly transferred between positions of containment within the case body and accessibility outside the case body. A biasing member urges the slide to the accessibility position when the door is opened. The biasing member is remote from the hand gun and avoids interference with said accessibility. The latch is actuated by a personal feature recognition device, e.g., a fingerprint recognition device and upon presentation of said personal feature to said device, said door is unlatched and the hand gun is presented to an authorized user.

  • Patent number: 6516590
Abstract: A system for compacting organic material such as silage and inserting compacted material into an elongate plastic bag. A feed table delivers material to a rotor that propels and compacts material into an inlet of a tunnel. A proportional valve controlling the hydraulic motor of the feed table controls the rate of which the feed table delivers material. A speed sensor senses the speed of the rotor and transmits a signal to the control unit connected to the proportional valve of the feed table. Overfeeding of material to the rotor results in a reduction of the rotor speed. Such reduction is sensed and the feed table delivery rate adjusted accordingly to optimize filling of the bag.
