Abstract: Disclosed are novel compounds of the formula ##STR1## WHEREIN EACH Z is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and halogen; wherein each X is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, and hydroxyl, provided that at least one X is hydroxyl; wherein Y is selected from the group comprising oxygen and sulfur; and wherein n is an integer from 1 to 3. The above compounds are effective flame retardants in polyurethane and polystyrene polymeric compositions.

The above compounds are effective reactive flame retardants in acrylic polymeric compositions.
