  • Patent number: 4701112
Abstract: A multiple fluid pumping system uses two or more fluid pumps each driven by a pneumatic piston or plunger and cylinder combination whose piston top stroke and bottom stroke positions are detected by reed switches in combination with a magnet attached to the piston. The top stroke reed switches are connected in series with one side of a two position pneumatic solenoid valve while the bottom stroke reed switches are connected in series with the other side of a two position penumatic solenoid valve. The circuit is designed to prevent one of the pistons from changing the direction of its stroke prior to the other piston reaching the end of its stroke. A further embodiment utilizes a magnet mounted on one pneumatically driven piston or plunger and a pair of reed switches mounted on the other penumatically driven piston or plunger to prevent one piston or plunger from moving faster or slover than the other piston or plunger.

  • Patent number: 4663609
Abstract: A brake light warning system for a motor vehicle causes the brakes lights to flash in a manner to attract the attention of a driver to the rear of the vehicle and provide a more effective warning of a slow down or stopping of the vehicle especially during foggy days or nights and when the view of a vehicle is partially obscured. Upon application of the brakes the brake lights are first caused to flash rapidly for 2 or 3 times for a first interval of time followed by prolonged "on" periods interrupted periodically by a short "off" period followed by a short "on" period followed by a short "off" period for a second interval of time as long as pressure is applied to the brake pedal of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4560191
Abstract: A security device for a door utilizes a first bracket member attached proximate one jamb of a door with a chain attached to said bracket and adapted to be fastened to a second chain engaging bracket member fastened proximate the other jamb of the door. The chain engaging bracket generally defines a U-shaped member having a first leg, a second leg and a saddle. The first leg is adapted to be attached to the jamb or building frame adjacent the door. The second leg comprises slots adapted to receive the links of a chain proximate the end of the legs. The saddle also comprises a slot adapted to receive a link of the chain. The chain is wrapped around the chain engaging bracket whereby a link of the chain is first received and engaged in the slot in the saddle. Then another link of the chain is received and engaged in the slot in the leg distal the slot in the saddle. The path of the chain then passes up for a link to be received and engage a slot in the leg proximal the slot in the saddle.

  • Patent number: 4499970
Abstract: A lifting platform for the handicapped for a transit system utilizes a pair of side support members mounted on a fixed base support at ground level in which the platform is located between the side supports and raised and lowered by a set of rotating actuating arms interconnected by a chain drive and sprocket wheel combination. A sprocket wheel and idler shaft combination interconnect the rotary actuating arms associated with each side support member and maintain the support platform at all times in a horizontal position while being raised and lowered. The rotating actuating arms rotate about an axis above ground level and intermediate between the high and low position of the platform. Final height adjustment is determined by the amount of rotation beyond the vertical by the rotating actuating arms.

  • Patent number: 4494043
Abstract: An ionizable material is ejected in the shape of a cylindrical column from a cathode-nozzle toward an anode and subjected to a very short, high voltage pulse of electrical current having sufficient magnitude to create a high magnetic field which implodes the cylindrical column of ionizable material to a very high density plasma that emits long wave length x-rays. Accurate and reliably reproduced x-ray bursts are provided through coupling of the cathode and anode to the high voltage pulse generator without substantially degrading the pulse. The conductors between the pulse generator and the cathode and anode are of a configuration whereby a magnetic field is used to prevent the electron losses by tapering the spacing between feed conductors and shaping the feed conductors so that space-charge flow is retrapped and made usable.
