Patent number: 6826980Abstract: The present invention seeks to provide a system for high speed intermittent motion. The system consists of one or more intermittent motion generators. Each motion generator consists of a first and a second drive system with each drive system having its own control software and control input information received from a programmable logic controller (PLC). Each motion generator employs dual cams with fixed angular rotation. The dual cam combination consists of a first cam nested within a second cam. The dual cams permit independent and individual motion generation for each motion generator. The angular rotation of the second cam relative to the angular rotation of the first cam causes a linear displacement which generates intermittent linear motion for each individual motion generator.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2001Date of Patent: December 7, 2004Inventor: George Schmideg

Patent number: 6822488Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus which provides a signal with an output frequency higher than an input frequency. A phase generator generates multiple phase signals from the input signal with each phase signal having the same frequency as the input signal but being out of phase with the input signal by multiples of a set time interval. These phase signals are transmitted to a multiplexer. The multiplexer output is determined by a select word generated by an accumulator from a stored value. The accumulator is clocked by the multiplexer output and the accumulator adds a control word with a set value to the stored value in the accumulator. This addition is accomplished at every cycle of the multiplexer output. By judiciously choosing control word and the time interval between phases, frequencies higher that the input frequency can be generated at the multiplexer output.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2000Date of Patent: November 23, 2004Assignee: Skyworks Solutions, Inc.Inventor: Thomas Atkin Denning Riley

Patent number: 6810917Abstract: A flat woven papermaker's forming fabric having a paper side layer and a machine side layer interconnected by pairs of machine side layer weft binder yarns. Each of the binder yarn pair members in sequence interlaces with a portion of the machine side layer warp yarns in segments of the weft yarn path so as to complete an unbroken weft path in the machine side layer weave pattern, and to provide an internal machine side layer float. Each of the binder yarn pair floats interweaves with a paper side layer warp yarn so as to bind the paper and machine side layers together. The location of the internal floats in each layer determines the available interweaving locations, not all of which need be used. A wider choice of possible paper and machine side layer weave design combinations is thus made available in forming fabrics, thereby allowing for a better match between the forming fabric and the paper maker's requirements.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2002Date of Patent: November 2, 2004Assignee: AstenJohnson, Inc.Inventor: Richard Stone

Patent number: 6707432Abstract: Systems and devices for mechanically rotating the polarisation of a signal emanating from or being received by an antenna system. The rotation of the polarisation is achieved by mechanically rotating the feed using a non-metallic drive cord or belt connected to a motor which is displaced outside or behind the radiating aperture. For a linear array of multiple antenna elements, each feed for each antenna element is rotated simultaneously and by an equal amount through the use of a drive system common to all the feeds. The drive system is coupled to each feed and to a drive motor. When the motor is activated, the drive system simultaneously rotates each feed by a given amount. By rotating the feed, the polarisation of the signal is correspondingly rotated and compensation for polarisation loss is provided.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2001Date of Patent: March 16, 2004Assignee: EMS Technologies Canada Ltd.Inventor: Peter C. Patent number: 6676357Abstract: An arcuate structure for bulk particulate solids which has inner and outer concentric containment walls. The space between the inner and outer walls is subdivided into a plurality of storage subspaces, and covered with a continuous roof. A radial stacker conveyor system receives particulate solids to be stored, and transfers these particulate solids into a selected storage space through access apertures disposed on a circular arc in the roof. To allow the radial stacker to access each roof aperture, it is rotatable about an axis concentric with the inner and outer walls, and the roof apertures are located on an arc concentric with the inner and outer walls. A separate radially located conveyor system is provided beneath the floor of each storage space, by means of which particulate solid stored in any chosen storage subspace can be retrieved through discharge gates located in the floor of each storage space above the conveyor, and transported to a delivery system adjacent to the radial stacker.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2001Date of Patent: January 13, 2004Assignee: EMS-Tech, Inc.Inventors: Brian T. Patent number: 6645267Abstract: A process for converting composted organic materials produced by optimized composting procedures into plant growing media for agronomic and other uses. The raw organic matter is first processed into compost by optimized standard methods. If desired, the raw organic matter can be of “organic” sources to provide plant growing media certifiable for use for organically grown food crops. The finished compost is screened to remove coarse particles above about 1 cm diameter, which are recycled back to the composting process. The composted material below approximately 1 cm diameter is further screened to separate out the particles below about 1 cm diameter and above 1 mm. This material is further separated into two size ranges: particles between 1 mm and up to 4 mm diameter (medium), and particles between 4 mm and 1 cm diameter (coarse).Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2000Date of Patent: November 11, 2003Inventor: Henri Dinel
