  • Patent number: 4822260
Abstract: A device for controlling a rotating-piston machine in which inner and outer rotors rotate at unequal speeds and profiled teeth thereon form gaps to define working chambers which move, with change of volume, from an inlet region to an outlet region of the machine. The device comprises a body having a feed channel for a working fluid, a plurality of supply channels which open into the inlet region and two rotary slide valves for controlling communication between the feed channel and the supply channels to fill the working chambers during development of suction therein upon rotation of the rotors. The body has two round cutouts each containing a respective rotary slide valve. One slide valve controls supply of fluid at the beginning of development of suction in each working chamber whereas the other slide valve controls supply fluid at the end of development of suction in each working chamber. Each cut-out is connected to the feed channel and to respective associated pluralities of supply channels.

  • Patent number: 4819311
Abstract: A machine tool comprises an upstanding column, a tool-driving unit vertically movable on the column, and a pair of guide rails on a front surface of the column to extend vertically thereon and horizontally spaced apart from each other for guiding the upward and downward movement of the tool-driving unit. The tool-driving unit includes a lift frame on the guide rails and a tilting-type turret head which is supported on a front surface of the lift frame and is rotatable about an axis inclined relative to the longitudinal direction of the frame in a horizontal plane. One of the pair of guide rails is relatively disposed forwardly of the other guide rail, so that the individual guide rails both assume positions close to the turret head thereby to minimize the amount of overhang of the tool-driving unit.

  • Patent number: 4813228
Abstract: A gas turbine plant in which the drive line of a power turbine extends substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the gas generator, the compressor drive turbine and power turbine being traversed in opposite directions by heated exhaust gases from a combustion chamber. A heat exchanger receives exhaust gases from the power turbine to heat compressed air to be delivered to the combustion chamber. The heat exchanger includes a matrix of U-shaped tubes connected to supply and discharge ducts of compressed air. The entire tube matrix is enclosed within an exhaust gas collector housing mounted downstream of the exhaust gas outlet of the power turbine and extending along the combustion chamber. The ducts are arranged in substantially parallel, adjacent relation and are each closed at one end. The open ends of the supply ducts respectively communicate with an outer channel of the plant which terminates at an end of the combustion chamber to receive compressed air to be heated.

  • Patent number: 4811699
Abstract: A speed reduction device for transmitting the rotation of a drive shaft to a driven shaft in a speed reducing manner. An eccentric cam is securely mounted on the drive shaft and has a central axis eccentrically offset from a central axis of the drive shaft, and the driven shaft is rotatably mounted in eccentrically offset relation from the drive shaft by an eccentricity equal to that of the eccentric cam. The driven shaft includes a pair of opposed surface portions which are adapted to rotate in a normally clamping and circumscribing relation with respect to the eccentric cam. When the speed reduction device is used in an intake and exhaust valve timing and actuating device of an internal combustion engine, a crank shaft serves as the drive shaft, while a follower cam associated with intake and exhaust valves serves as the driven shaft.

  • Patent number: 4809774
Abstract: A heat exchanger having first and second ducts respectively for the supply of compressed air to be heated and for the discharge of heated compressed air. A tube matrix includes first and second branches respectively connected to the first and second ducts for conveying compressed air from the first duct to the second duct. The tube matrix is exposed to the flow of hot gases therearound to heat the compressed air conveyed in the tube matrix. A plate heat exchanger connects the first and second branches of the tube matrix to convey the compressed air from the first branch to the second. The plate heat exchanger is formed by spaced plates between which the hot gases flow, each plate being connected to rows of tubes of the matrix in the first and second branches and forming a flow chamber in which the compressed air can be conveyed.

  • Patent number: 4808073
Abstract: The hollow shaft of a high pressure compressor is provided in a conically tapering section downstream of the last rotor disc on its inner surface with a vane-like rib arrangement for conveying a stream of cooling air from the vicinity of the axis of the shaft into the outer peripheral regions of the last rotor disc. The stream then passes through corresponding circumferentially distributed axial holes in the rotor disc. In this way, better cooling of the last compressor stages which have been heated by the main stream of air in the compressor and a reduction in the stresses in the structural parts can be obtained.
