  • Patent number: 5148762
Abstract: A safety line harness for restraining and arresting the snap-back of a pad line to prevent casualty or injury, the safety line harness having at least one restraining line, with first and second ends, each restraining line attached to an attachment point and comunication with the harnessed line. When a harnessed line parts, the restraining lines of the present invention elongate to absorb the energy of the parted line and the parted line is restrained and arrested by the restraining lines.

  • Patent number: 5022784
Abstract: An apparatus and method for reducing the strength of the nearbottom offsh directed current inside the surfzone thereby promoting and sand accretion on the beach. An arrangement of pipes is placed in the surfzone and operates to sequester a portion of surfzone fluid. The sequestered surfzone fluid is conveyed out to sea by way of the piping system thereby reducing the velocity and quantity of surfzone fluid reducing sand erosion.

  • Patent number: 4993125
Abstract: This invention relates to a container connector having independently adjuble and locking ends, each end configured to be inserted into an opening of a cargo container and rotated to lock the connector with the container. When inserted and locked the connector holds two adjacent ends of adjacent containers in a spaced relationship. Locking mechanisms are provided for retaining each locking end in the locked or unlocked position. The ends of the connector may be adjusted to accommodate containers with different end spacing requirements.

  • Patent number: 4958970
Abstract: A graduated-load spring washer system for screws and threaded fasteners uses a deflection coil spring of slightly less than one coil with special end configurations for anti-marring. A cross-section of the coil spring is substantially trapezoidal, with the outer periphery thickness being the dimension of the trapezoid base and larger than the inner thickness dimension. When placed under the head of a threaded fastener and flattened upon tightening of the fastener, the device maintains a large tailored preload to prevent loosening even during and after stress relaxation and creep, and eliminates the need for a usual flat washer below the coil to prevent marring. The device also eliminates requirement for use of torque application measuring tools because preload can be determined by sight or tactile sensing.
