Abstract: Apparatus and a method for adding and removing tubulars whilst containing the pressure within a drill string and/or maintaining circulation of drilling fluid down a drill string using a diverter sub which is able to open up to mud flow from a side mud port and close off the flow of mud from above the drill string with or without continuous rotation of the drill string.
Abstract: A method and equipment for measuring vapour flux from a surface (10) e.g. the rate of water loss from human skin, which is useful in the evaluation of the efficiency of the skin/water barrier. It uses a closed cylinder (12), which is placed against the skin and by measuring the temperature and relative humidity within the cylinder by means of sensors (13, 14) positioned adjacent the wall of the cylinder, the water vapour flux can be determined.
Abstract: An underwater drilling rig (1) in modular form, which can be simply assembled underwater and in which standard tubulars and tubular assemblies are stored in a novel arrangement within containers (6) and can be added to, and removed from, the string in the well bore, whilst there is continuous circulation of drilling fluid and also continuous segregation of drilling fluid from the seawater.
Abstract: A dielectric resonator having a first layer of alumina and a second layer of TiO2 is disclosed which has a superior combination of properties such as low dielectric loss, low temperature coefficient and high thermal conductivity.

Abstract: Low dielectric loss ceramic materials useful in dielectric resonators comprise alumina doped with a minor amount, preferably below 2% by weight of a metal or semi metal oxide, preferably an oxide of titanium, niobium, yttrium or zirconium. The compositions can be made by sintering the powders together below their melting point and materials with a with a Q value of greater than 35,000 at 9-10 GHz and at 25° C., can be obtained.
