  • Patent number: 7037606
Abstract: A security element is equipped with first code of magnetic material and/or second code of electroconductive material and has in addition third, optically read-able code, for example as negative writing and/or as a bar code, which is present in the magnetic and/or electroconductive code or is produced preferably together with third, neutral material, the neutral material not being either electroconductive or magnetic. According to the invention it is provided that all three aforementioned materials are indistinguishable to the viewer optically, that is, with the naked eye, and therefore appear as a uniform coating made of a single material.

  • Patent number: 7020602
Abstract: A domain name system includes a native language domain name registrar, which receives a native language domain name registration request. The native language domain name comprises at least one non-alphanumeric character not included in the allowable character set for domain name registration, i.e., the English alphabets A through Z, the Arabic numbers 0 through 9 and the hyphen “-”. Each of the non-alphanumeric characters is converted to a string of alphanumeric characters to produce an alphanumeric domain name comprised of strings of alphanumeric characters uniquely representing the native language domain name being requested to be registered. The resulting alphanumeric domain name is registered with the domain name registration system, and is used in the domain name/IP address entry in the domain name server (DNS).

  • Patent number: 6729828
Abstract: A load carrying vehicle body with a chassis is provided which has a forward support and a rearward support, and which is able to accommodate a load. The rearward support includes a pair of support members each with at least one wheel mounted to one side of a support member. The support members are movable on the chassis between a first position at which the wheels are located within the tracking width of the vehicle and at which the wheels are aligned with the direction of travel of the vehicle, and a second position at which the wheels are displaced laterally from the tracking width to provide access to the rear of the chassis. A first lock is provided between the support members which is able to be interengaged when the support members are in the first position to maintain the wheels in the first position and to enable the support members to cooperate with each other in accommodating the stresses and load exerted thereon when in the first position.

  • Patent number: 6622580
Abstract: A backlash-free speed reducing device includes a drive unit, a rotary unit, and a power output unit. The drive unit consists of a drive motor having a drive shaft. A first power transmission cable is wound around the drive shaft. The rotary unit has two first cylinders, with the first transmission cable fixed to the external surface of the first cylinders at opposite ends thereof and wound around or unwound from the first cylinders in response to a rotation of the drive shaft. Each of the first cylinders is concentrically fitted over a rotating shaft such that the first cylinders are linearly movable along the rotating shafts in opposite directions. A second power transmission cable is fixed to the external surfaces of the rotating shafts of the two first cylinders at opposite ends thereof. The power output unit has a second cylinder, with the second transmission cable wound around the second cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6616304
Abstract: A temperature control system for a source of electromagnetic radiation, such as an arc lamp, in a collecting and condensing system including a first reflector having a first focal point and a first optical axis, and a second reflector having a second focal point and a second optical axis. The source may be located proximate to the first focal point of the first reflector to produce rays of radiation that reflect from the first reflector toward the second reflector and substantially converge at the second focal point. A sensor, such as a voltage or a temperature sensor, may be placed near the source, and produces an output which may be substantially proportional to an attribute of the source. A comparator compares the output to a predetermined value and produces a difference between the output and the predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 6613144
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for dosing flowable, preferably thick media, without the use of a pump. The device can preferably be interchanged on the cover or can be fixed as a cover of a common withdrawing device for paper towels, woven fabrics or other fabrics, cotton balls and the like. The inventive device comprises a dispensing container which is either constructed as a cover itself or comprises means for fastening on such a cover. In addition, said container releases a desired quantity of medium located therein when pressure is exerted on a predetermined partial area. The invention is preferably used in the areas of personal hygiene, household cleaning and industry in order to clean, polish and/or lubricate.

  • Patent number: 6598131
Abstract: A data image management system (DIMS) that includes a local data image manager (LDIM), a remote data image manager (RDIM), and a remote persistent storage device (RPSD). The LDIM communicates with the RDIM through a direct communication link or through a communication network. The RDIM can store data on and retrieve data from the RPSD. In an environment where an LDIM has been installed in a computer having a “local” persistent storage device (LPSD), the DIMS allows for the storing of the LPSD's data image on the RPSD, with the LPSD serving as a persistent, consistent cache of the data image. The data image stored on the RPSD is referred to as the “master data image” and the data image cached on the LPSD is referred to as the “local data image” or “cached data image.” The LDIM functions to intercept read/write requests that are intended to be received by the LPSD. The read/write requests specify an address of the LPSD.

  • Patent number: 6589944
Abstract: Advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs) have been implicated in the pathogenesis of a variety of debilitating diseases such as diabetes, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer's and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as in the normal aging process. Five compounds are here reported to be active in breaking AGE-protein cross-links. These compounds are L-bis-[4-(4-chlorobenzamido-phenoxyisobutyryl)cystine] (LR20); 4-(3,5-dichlorophenylureido)phenoxyisobutyryl-1-amido-cyclohexane-1-carboxylic acid (LR23); methylene bis [4,4′-(2-chlorophenylureido-phenoxyisobutyric acid)] (LR90); 5-arninosalicylic acid (5-ASA); and metformin. These compounds may be used to reverse the debilitating effects of those diseases in which AGEs are formed.
