  • Patent number: 4749030
Abstract: A condenser for separating solvent vapors from non-condensable gases. The condenser includes an outer shell, a middle shell inside the outer shell, and an inner shell inside the middle shell. The shells are coaxial and the middle shell is open at the bottom. Mixed solvent vapors and non-condensing gas pass downwardly through an annular space between the inner and middle shells. There is a condensate receiving chamber in the outer shell below the lower end of the middle shell. A cold trap is mounted in the upper portion of the condensate receiving chamber. Coolant is introduced into the cold trap to cool the cold trap. Helical tube means mounted on the cold trap receives the coolant from the cold trap. The helical tube means extends upwardly through the annular space between the inner and middle shells and discharges into an upper portion of the inner shell, and is removed from the inner shell. Condensate is withdrawn from the chamber in the lower portion of the outer shell.

  • Patent number: 4739971
Abstract: A guard rail assembly for a highway. A sliding frame is mounted on each of a series of posts. The sliding frame slides transversely of the guard rail assembly. Elongated guard rail units span adjacent posts. Each guard rail unit includes an elongated support plate, hanger means on the sliding frames of the adjacent posts for supporting opposed end portions of the support plates, a sliding plate mounted on the support plate for frictional engagement therewith, and shock absorber means on each of the sliding frames for resisting movement thereof transversely of the guard rail assembly. The sliding plate can be engaged by a vehicle leaving the highway. The vehicle is restrained by the sliding plate and by resistance of the shock absorber means.

  • Patent number: 4716899
Abstract: A tool for applying an identification tag body and a tag retainer to an ear of an animal. The tool includes a main handle member on which a tag body is mounted, a swinging bracket pivotally mounted on the main handle member, a second handle member pivotally connected to the swinging bracket, a first sliding link member pivotally connected to the second handle member, and a second sliding link member pivotally connected to the second handle member. The tag retainer is mounted on the swinging bracket. As the swinging bracket swings, the tag retainer can pass through the animal's ear and enter a boss of the tag body for locking therein. Support structure on each of the sliding link members can engage support pins mounted on the main handle member so that linkage of the tool can advance in two stages as the handles are advanced toward each other. The support structure of the sliding link members can come free of the associated support pins, one at a time.

  • Patent number: 4705590
Abstract: A machine for mounting a printing plate on a plate roll having an adhesively coated face. The machine includes a frame, means for rotatably mounting a plate roll on the frame in a selected position, a tilting framework swingably mounted on the frame and a pair of table sections mounted on the tilting framework on which the printing plate can be slideably mounted. A transparent grid plate is hingedly mounted on the tilting framework and can overlie the printing plate on the table sections. The printing plate can be advanced across the table section until the grid shows that the printing plate is properly aligned with the plate roll. Then a movable one of the table sections can be withdrawn and the printing plate can be advanced downwardly to bring a portion of the printing plate into engagement with the plate roll for attaching the printing plate to the plate roll. The plate roll can be turned to bring the rest of the printing plate into engagement with the adhesively coated face of the plate roll.

  • Patent number: 4693398
Abstract: A dispensing container having an annular side wall and a lower end wall closing a lower end of the side wall. The lower end wall is provided with a discharge opening which is spaced a selected distance from a center of the lower end wall. The lower end wall is spaced upwardly from a lower edge of the side wall to form a circular space inside a lower end portion of the side wall. A circular support plate of a dispensing machine is received in the space, and the opening in the lower end wall is keyed to an opening in the support plate by complementary frusto-conic wall sections at the openings so that only a container which keys to the support plate can be used with the dispensing machine.

  • Patent number: 4672966
Abstract: A tool for attaching an identification tag body and a tag retainer to an ear of an animal. The tool includes a main handle member and a first bracket pivotally mounted on the main handle member. An opening in the first bracket receives a hollow boss of the tag body. A second bracket is pivotally mounted on the main handle member. A boss on the second bracket is received inside the hollow boss of the tag body when in a tag body supporting position. A link assembly is pivotally mounted on the main handle member. A drive pin member receives the tag retainer. The drive pin is resiliently mounted on the link assembly and is urged toward a position in which the tag retainer enters the hollow of the boss of the tag body as the link assembly is advanced in a retainer actuating direction. The link assembly is driven in retainer actuating direction to drive the tag retainer through the ear of the animal and into position for holding by the boss of the tag body.

  • Patent number: 4570863
Abstract: A wet grinding machine which includes a grinder head, an annular stator mounted on the grinder head, and a rotor rotatably mounted in the grinder head. Shearing blades on the rotor turn inside the stator and sweep across shearing slots in the stator. Each of the shearing slots slopes and overlaps adjacent shearing slots so that each of the blades is constantly addressing an inner edge of at least one of the shearing slots. A classifying screen chamber surrounds the stator but is independent of the grinding machine so that particles of reduced size can pass through the screen to be removed while larger particles are retained and sheared by the rotor blades against inner edges of the slots.
