  • Patent number: 6666274
Abstract: The invention comprises a section of improved tubing with coupled end connectors and an insert containing at least one electrical wire. The insert has an outside diameter that is approximately equal to the inside diameter of the improved tubing. The insert also has projections at each end such that when two inserts are placed end to end, the projections will mate up. The insert has at least one groove cut into its side and running the length of the insert. The groove is for the placement of a wire for transmission of power to the well bore or for the placement of a wire for transmission of data from the well bore. When a plurality of the inventions are placed end to end, the insert projections line up the electrical connectors and correct mating of the insert projections will result in correct mating of the electrical connectors.

  • Patent number: 6657639
Abstract: An improved apparatus and method for scrolling through text contained in windows on a graphical user interface is disclosed. The invention determines whether the user is holding down a command button while the mouse pointer is either placed over the slider on a scroll bar or over one of the directional buttons. If the pointer is on the vertical slider, the invention ignores left and right mouse movements. If the pointer is on the horizontal slider, the invention ignores up and down mouse movements. If the pointer is on one of the four directional arrows, the invention ignores all mouse movements. The invention will continue along these guidelines until the command button is released. By performing these tasks, the invention eliminates the possibility that a user will inadvertently move the pointer off of the scroll bar or off of the directional buttons.

  • Patent number: 6574969
Abstract: An apparatus for rapidly producing cryogenically frozen dessert particles is disclosed. The machine comprises a refrigerated mixer, a plurality of hoses connecting the refrigerated mixer to a filling head, a bath having a housing and a tank for liquid nitrogen, a bath belt rotatably engaged to the housing, a cluster cylinder rotatably engaged to the housing, and a delivery belt. The method of employing the apparatus comprises the steps of placing a mix into the refrigerated mixer, pumping the mix through the plurality of hoses into the filling head, allowing the mix to stream into liquid nitrogen in a tank in the bath, carrying the particles formed out of the liquid nitrogen by means of a conveyor belt, breaking up clumps of particles and transporting the particles to a channel guide for weighing and packaging.

  • Patent number: 6553103
Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed that allows a user of a message transmission device such as a digital phone or a pager to create a user defined list of words, symbols, macros or graphics, and further allows the user to use each entry as a macro, in order to select words or string text from a predefined dictionary and place the expanded content of the macro in a message on a display when composing a text message. When a message is composed, a linked list of words, symbols, macros or graphics from an existing dictionary comprises the message. Additionally, text or voice recordings may be inserted into the message. Also, when the user receives an inbound message, the contents of the message can be used to update the dictionary by selecting (e.g. for example, highlighting or other selection mechanisms) each word or several words in the message, followed by storing the highlighted word or text and selecting the complete message and storing its contents as a macro.

  • Patent number: 6553388
Abstract: A method for determining what records have been added, deleted or changed in a database uses primary keys and CRCs to make the determination. A first snapshot is taken of a record, the record retrieved, converted into characters, if necessary, and concatenated to produce a long string. A CRC code is calculated for the string. The CRC and the primary key for the record are stored. The CRC is compared with a subsequent CRC for a second snapshot of the record and a subsequent primary key. Comparing the two primary keys and the two CRCs allows determination of whether the record has been deleted, added or changed. If the first and second primary keys do not match, or if the first and second primary keys match and the CRCs do not match, the record is processed according to the particular application to be applied. The process is repeated for all records in the database.

  • Patent number: 6549726
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a support element, a frame or enclosure rotatably attached to the support element and a camera rotatably attached to the frame or enclosure. The frame or enclosure can rotate about a subject placed on the support element in the horizontal and in the vertical. A camera mounted on the frame or enclosure rotates about the subject with the frame or enclosure and can also move toward or away from the subject. The frame can be covered with translucent material to create an enclosure around the subject and lighting may be applied either from outside the enclosure or inside the enclosure by placing lights affixed to the external frame through the material. In one embodiment, solid translucent material such as plexiglass can be both the frame and the enclosure. The support element includes at least one arm connected to a stage support which mounts a rotatable stage upon which the subject to be photographed is placed.

  • Patent number: 6527889
Abstract: An artificial turf field comprises a mat with artificial grass stitched to the mat and rubber granules combined with powdered latex or other suitable powdered binding agent activated by water. Mats with the artificial grass affixed are laid on an athletic field. Rubber granules mixed with a bonding agent and the coated rubber granules are poured over the mats and raked until a depth of ½ to ¾ inches is achieved. Water is then misted onto the surface activating the bonding agent. The first layer is allowed to set. The first level of infil material will be bound particle to particle, to the grass and to the mat by the agent, thus ensuring a stablized shock absorbency pad. Additionally, the stabilized layer eliminates substantial migration of loose infil material.

  • Patent number: 6507905
Abstract: A computer program, installed on a computer, allows a user of that computer to be assigned a personal local data partition and the data to be retained in the partition. When a second user logs on, that user is assigned a different personal data partition. When the computer boots after logon by the second user, the operating system does not see the first users partition and will assign the same drive letter to the second user's partition. The process repeats for any number of users. Therefore, at each boot of the system, the operating system will not see the personal data partitions for any other user than the user who just logged on with his or her individual identification.

  • Patent number: 6487601
Abstract: A method and apparatus for Dynamic MAC Allocation and Configuration is based on the ability to remotely boot a client machine from a server machine and adds the capability to assign a Locally Administered Address (LAA) to override the Universally Administered Address (UAA). A set of programs at the workstation allows a remote boot and interaction the server. The client machine will send out a DMAC discovery frame. The discovery frame will be intercepted by a DMAC program installed on the server which will be running and listening for the request. Once the DMAC program intercepts the request it analyzes the request and takes one of two actions. If necessary, the server will run an “initialization” script. For workstations that have already been initialized, the server will send an LAA to the client workstation from a table or pool. The client workstation will then request an operating system with its new LAA. The boot options will be a table or pool corresponding to an LAA or range of LAA's.

  • Patent number: 6428165
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a nosepiece coupled to a pair of annular eyewires, and a pair of clasps hinged to the nosepiece that cooperate with each of two annular eyewires to secure the lenses. Each clasp and eyewire contains a locking hole into which a pin may be inserted to secure the clasp in the closed position. The eyeglasses also contain a pair of temples, each of which is pivotally joined to each of the eyewires. The eyewires have axial markings that indicate the cylindrical axis of the lenses, and bifocal markings that indicate the correct position of the bifocals, so that lenses may be installed and removed without the need for instruments or tools.

  • Patent number: 6354992
Abstract: An apparatus and method for cleaning the objective lens of a laparoscope, endoscope, or coeloscope during surgery and also removing the solution and debris during and after the cleaning. The result is obtained by using a rigid hollow split sheath for the scope. The split sheath has two separate channels. One channel is for irrigation and the cleaning fluid flows through this channel to be directed onto the lens. The other channel is for suction to remove the solution and debris during and after the cleaning. Control buttons located at the operator's end activate the irrigation and suction functions. The control buttons for irrigation and suction are fabricated into an existing valve type device which can regulate either of these functions. In addition, two ports, one for irrigation and one for suction emerge from the operator's end to connect to the appropriate tubing for irrigation and suction.
