  • Patent number: 8127222
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for managing target documents referred to by referring documents. A user sends a delete request for a referring document from a user client computer to a master server computer. Next, the master server computer accesses and deletes the referring document, updates a counter for a target document hypertext linked to the referring document, and updates a database, which contained the deleted referring document. The master server computer then determines whether the count for the counter of the target document equals zero. If the counter for the referring document is not equal to zero, the master server computer sends a message to the user indicating that the referring document has been deleted and sends a message to the user asking whether the user wants to delete another referring document. If the user wants to delete another referring document the process goes back to the initial process step, and the user sends another delete request for a referring document.

  • Patent number: 8121062
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for canceling cross-talk in a frequency-division multiplexed communication system. The disclosed frequency-division multiplexed communication system employs multiple carriers having overlapping channels and provides an improved cross-talk cancellation mechanism to address the resulting interference. Bandwidth compression is achieved using n level amplitude modulation in each frequency band. An FDM receiver is also disclosed that decomposes the received broadband signal into each of its respective frequency bands and returns the signal to basehand in the analog domain. Analog requirements are relaxed by removing cross-talk from adjacent R-F channels, from image bands, and minimizing the performance degradation caused by In-phase and Quadrature-phase (I/Q) phase and gain mismatches in modulators and demodulators. The disclosed transmitter or receiver (or both) can be fabricated on a single integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 8120386
Abstract: A circuit comprises a control line and a two terminal semiconductor device having first and second terminals. The first terminal is coupled to a signal line, and the second terminal is coupled to the control line. The two terminal semiconductor device is adapted to have a capacitance when a voltage on the first terminal relative to the second terminal is above a threshold voltage and to have a smaller capacitance when a voltage on the first terminal relative to the second terminal is below the threshold voltage. The control line is coupled to a control signal and the signal line is coupled to a signal and is output of the circuit. A signal is placed on the signal line and voltage on the control line is modified (e.g., raised in the case of n-type devices, or lowered for a p-type devices). When the signal falls below the threshold voltage, the two terminal semiconductor device acts as a very small capacitor and the output of the circuit will be a small value.

  • Patent number: 8116986
Abstract: Basis motifs are determined from an input sequence through an iterative technique that begins by creating small solid motifs and continues to create larger motifs that include “don't care” characters and that can include flexible portions. The small solid motifs, including don't care characters and flexible portions, are concatenated to create larger motifs. During each iteration, motifs are trimmed to remove redundant motifs and other motifs that do not meet certain criteria. The process is continued until no new motifs are determined. At this point, the basis set of motifs has been determined. The basis motifs are used to construct redundant motifs that are formed by determining sets for selected basis motifs. From these sets, unique intersection sets are determined. This process continues, by selecting additional basis motifs, until all basis motifs have been selected. An apparatus for performing the process is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8115186
Abstract: A memory cell is fabricated by forming a dielectric layer and patterning a hole in the dielectric layer. Patterning the hole is accomplished at least in part by contacting the dielectric layer with a catalytic material in the presence of a reactant under conditions effective to remove those areas of the dielectric layer in contact with the catalytic material. A phase change feature is then formed in contact with the dielectric layer such that a portion of the phase change feature at least partially fills the hole in the dielectric layer. At least a portion of the patterned dielectric layer remains in the ultimate memory cell.
