  • Patent number: 5018750
Abstract: An oil seal arrangement includes a non-rotating oil ring and a rotating guide ring. A flexible oil seal is bonded to the oil ring and sealingly engages the guide ring to retain lube oil in a bearing chamber. A flexible lip seal and a spacer member rotate with the guide ring and slidably engage portions of the oil ring which are exposed to lube oil and spaced apart from the oil seal.

  • Patent number: 4262278
Abstract: A warning circuit generates warning signals in response to conditions of a vehicle brake system which includes main and back-up brake fluid pumps. The main pump is engine-driven and ignition-switch controlled. The back-up pump is relay actuated and battery powered. A sensor switch opens upon operation of the main pump and a brake switch closes during an operator brake application. The warning circuit includes a first OR gate with inputs coupled to the ignition and brake switches. The output of the first OR gate is coupled to the relay and to a first warning lamp. The output of the first OR gate is capacitively coupled to the set input of a set-reset flip-flop and is coupled to the reset input of the flip-flop. The reset input is also coupled to a terminal of the back-up source. The Q output of the flip-flop is coupled to an input of a second OR gate through an inverter.

  • Patent number: 4221596
Abstract: A method for forming contoured refractory bodies characterized by a low coefficient of expansion, high flexural strength and resistance to thermal shock, wherein a fused silica material is pressed into the desired shape in a porous die at a pressure not greater than about 1500 psi, the batch composition consisting essentially of from about 70-85 parts by weight fused silica of -325 mesh, from about 15-30 parts by weight clay, together with from about 20-28 parts by weight de-ionized water and from about 0.1-0.6 parts by weight of at least one of the organic plasticizers selected from the group consisting of hydroxyethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, ethylene oxide resin and propylene glycol alginate, the composition containing less than 0.3% by weight on an after-fired basis of alkali and alkaline earth metal oxides, the green body being dried and then fired at about 1123.degree. C. for about 6 hours.

  • Patent number: 4093672
Abstract: Indene is recovered in ultrahigh purity from a liquid hydrocarbon mixture comprising indene and organic impurities of which at least one has a melt point above indene and of which at least one has a melt point below indene by a process comprising (1) crystallizing a substantial portion of indene from the mixture and (2) separating the mother liquor from the crystalline indene by passing a non-reactive gas through the crystalline indene.
