Abstract: A surfing board and method for manufacture that include the cutting and bending of a buoyant material to a flat arch with a concave upperside and a convex underside to define an elongated body. T-shaped longitudinal cutouts extend from one end to the other along the upperside and underside, respectively. The T-shaped longitudinal cutouts are kept at a substantially parallel and spaced apart relationship with respect to each other with the vertical leg of the T-shaped cutouts coplanarly disposed opposite to each other and the crossed legs of the T-shaped cutouts substantially flush with the upperside and underside, respectively. Two elongated reinforcement core members are longitudinally coextensive with the body and being mounted within, and conforming to, the cutouts that are kept at a substantially parallel and spaced apart relationship with respect to each other.
Abstract: A system for protecting tile roofs that includes a wire mesh assembly that substantially covers the shingle tile roof structure. The wire mesh assembly includes peripheral sides defined by outermost wire members. Strap members with some degree of deformability have two folded ends. One of the ends hooks over the outermost wire member and the other end removably mounts to the distal peripheral end of the drip guard. The system can be readily deployed over the roof structure and removed for volumetrically efficient storage.
Abstract: A magnetic fastening device with discrete slidable adjustments, comprising first and second sheets, each having a plurality of magnetic section elements with first and second poles disposed in alternating groups defining predetermined abutting patterns. The magnetic section elements are abuttingly disposed in two groups. In one group, the elements' magnetic field is disposed in one direction perpendicular to the sheets. In the other group, the elements' field is disposed in the opposite direction. The groups repeat themselves in an alternating pattern. The movement of the first and second sheets is constrained to keep them in an abutting relationship with respect to each other over a predetermined path over the first and second sheets, thereby permitting the sheets to be slidably movable along a predetermined distance relative to each other in discrete steps that overcome the attraction and repulsion forces of the magnetic section elements upon the application of a pulling force of a predetermined magnitude.
Abstract: A paired phase electrical power distribution bus way system wherein the three phase paired conductors are surrounded and encapsulated by the neutral conductor and packed all together with the housing as a company element to obtain equal separation between the neutral bus bar assembly and the paired phase conductors. The neutral conductor or bus bar assembly consists of two covers that sandwich the three pairs of phase conductors and the insulator layers to achieve minimum and equal distance between them and to reduce and balance the impedance between the neutral and the paired conductors. The housing compresses each pair through the neutral conductor and insulation layer to maintain contact between the conductors, the neutral, and the housing to get efficient heat conduction to the outside.
Abstract: A rear assembly for motorcycles having a frame with two rear parallel and spaced apart backbone members. Two molded halves of the rear portion are made from moldable sheet metal and welded together defining a seat side with an adjacent fender, as a unitary piece with an underside and a continuous peripheral edge. The edge is welded to the rear backbone members resulting in a braced structure. The process includes the steps of cutting two pieces of sheet metal with a predetermined shape that after being molded and welded together define an upper rear portion with a peripheral edge that is welded to the rear backbone members of the frame. Finishing steps including polishing and painting the resulting structure.
Abstract: A wheeled bag assembly having an elongated wheeled bottom assembly made out of a rigid and moldable material with an upperside, an underside, first and second lateral sides, first and second ends defined, respectively, by first and second folds along said underside, said first fold extending away from said underside a first predetermined distance. Wheel members mounted to the lateral sides opposite to a supporting fold with cooperative dimensions to permit the bottom assembly to be at rest at a substantially parallel and spaced apart relationship with respect to a supporting surface. A bag member with flat bottom wall is mounted over the upperside and extends upwardly defining an internal compartment and an upper end opening. A user tilts the bag assembly and pulls it from handles mounted adjacent to the opening causing the wheels to roll and the assembly to easily move with its contents.
Abstract: A floating exercise rowing machine with two elongated floating assemblies that are kept at a parallel and spaced apart relationship with respect to each other by two transversal frame assemblies and a longitudinally extending frame assembly. The frame assemblies support a seat assembly mounted at the middle of the floating exercise machine. A propulsion mechanism that includes a bar that is pivotally mounted to the frame assembly with a coaxially extending actuating end that moves reciprocally between two extreme positions to cause, through linkage arms, the rotation of sprockets that in turn impart a rotational movement to a transversal axle that supports two paddle wheels at the ends. A steering mechanism permits a user to steer the floating machine with his/her hands.
Abstract: An apparatus for mounting boats to a trailer by using the thrust of a motor in a boat to cooperate with an alignment mechanism to keep the bow in alignment. Similar arms with cooperating rollers mounted thereon are cammingly separated when the bow pushes against one or both of them. The reaction force is proportional to its deflection thereby helping, within certain limits, the alignment of the bow. By keeping the synchronization of the arms movement the boat's bow can be more readily aligned to facilitate the mounting of the boat to a trailer without requiring additional help. The arms carrying the rollers are resiliently biased in a predetermined position that is overcome by applying a force of a predetermined magnitude.
Abstract: A power distribution and protection system and method where an electrical power source distributes power to different load circuits and provides protection that changes on the fly as required by sensing the characteristics of the loads. This is accomplished by a central processing node that is connected to multiple point of use nodes. The characteristics over an initial period of time of the current drawn by the loads are detected and compared to references that determine whether a load is inductive, resistive or is in arcing condition. One of the techniques used involves counting the zero crossings over a predetermined period of time. If the voltage applied to the loads is AC, a high pass filter is used to extract the ringing characteristics to be compared.
