Abstract: A pipe handling apparatus has a supporting structure, an arm pivotally interconnected to the supporting structure such that the supporting structure and the arm are movable between a first position and a second position within a single degree of freedom, and a stiffener cooperative with the arm when the arm and the supporting structure are in the second position. The stiffener applies a mechanical resistance to the arm in the second position. The second position is at an end of the travel of the supporting structure and the arm. The stiffener applies a variable resistance to the arm as the arm moves from the first position to the second position. This variable resistance is at its greatest when the arm is in the second position.

Abstract: A system for condensing water from air includes a column having a substantially non-reflective surface effective for absorbing heat energy from the sun and transferring the heat to air in the interior of the column. A condenser is secured within the column, and includes a condensing surface with a thermoelectric or natural gas cooler positioned thereon for cooling the condensing surface. A collector is positioned within the column for collecting water that condenses on and falls from the at least one condensing surface of the condenser, and an accumulator is coupled in fluid communication with the collector for accumulating the water.

Abstract: A fence system, and method for making same, includes at least one support member, and at least one infill material having an edge. At least one union strip is coupled to the at least one support member, the at least one union strip including at least one channel configured for receiving the edge of the at least one infill material. In one embodiment of the invention, the at least one channel is U-shaped, and the edge is configured in a U-shape for matingly engaging the at least one U-shaped channel.

Abstract: A method for facilitating the ordering of two or more products, wherein a data repository receives from each respective buyer of two or more buyers at least two respective orders for purchase quantities of units of at least two products of said two or more products. The data repository calculates, substantially contemporaneously with the step of receiving, a composite order comprising the total units of each of said two or more products specified in each respective order received from each respective buyer. A near valid order quantity is determined with reference to said total units, and the purchase quantity is adjusted with reference to the total units taken with respect to the near valid order quantity.

Abstract: In a fence having a plurality of posts, vertically-spaced rails extend across the posts. Horizontally-spaced union strips are extended across the rails, and sheeted infill material is positioned within the open faces of the union strips, so that the sheeted infill material extends from the first union strip to the second union strip.

Abstract: A paint striper has a main body having a head portion, an interior cavity, and a slot in fluid communication between the head portion and the interior cavity. The slot is configured for receiving a wheel, and the interior cavity is configured for receiving paint. A wheel is rotatably mounted in the slot with a portion of the wheel extending into the interior cavity. A shoulder extends from the main body, and a guide extends from the shoulder for following a guide track formed in a strip positioned on a surface of the vehicle, wherein the track is substantially parallel to the desired position of the pinstripe. The strip is secured in position on the surface of the vehicle using adhesive which permits removal of the strip from the surface of the vehicle without leaving a residue, and re-use of the strip on a surface of another vehicle.

Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, by which to page a mobile station to alert the mobile station of a call placed thereto. A location server is provided at which a location index is created and maintained, identifying the location at which the mobile station to which the call is to be terminated is positioned. Page messages are broadcast throughout an area in which the mobile station is indicated to be positioned. The page messages are broadcast in manners that permit the mobile station to detect their transmission even when the mobile station is in a dormant, or other nonactive, state.

Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating communication of a vector graphic representation, or other content, pursuant to effectuation of a communication service. The content forms, for instance, an animated graphic, such as that used in a mobile communication application to effectuate an animated multi-media message. The vector graphic is encoded according to codewords that function to compress the data prior to its communication upon a radio link. And, once delivered to a receiving station, a decoder decodes the content into unencoded form. Codebooks are utilized and accessed by an encoder and decoder of a sending/receiving station pair.
