  • Patent number: 6683982
Abstract: In a method for image analysis and correction of video signal values in the processing of video films, whereby analysis values with respect to image range, gradation and color cast of the individual frames of the video film are identified by the image analysis of the video signal values, and the correction of the video signal values is implemented on the basis of the analysis values, the video signal values are initially transformed according to a three-dimensional conversion function into the video signal values of an independent and sensation-conforming, equidistant color space. For each frame of a video sequence composed of a plurality of frames, at least one analysis value is determined on the basis of the transformed video signal values. At least one analysis values representative of the video sequence is formed by forming the average of the corresponding analysis values of the frames of the video sequence.

  • Patent number: 6683453
Abstract: In a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and method for obtaining NMR navigator echoes with slight disturbance of the longitudinal magnetization, an EPI pulse sequence is generated to irradiate an object to be examined. Excitation which is selective by means of a slice selection gradient, and which has a small flip angle &agr;<90° forms a navigator slice and supplies a signal which is read out in the EPI pulse sequence using phase encoding in a direction perpendicular to the slice selection direction and the read out direction. A spatially resolved navigator rod is obtained by reconstructing a column or row of the navigator slice.

  • Patent number: 6679258
Abstract: A ventilator for connection to a patient to provide assisted breathing, has a gas flow generator, a pressure meter, a flow meter and a control unit, which determines a gas pressure, on the basis of a pre-set tidal volume for the patient and measurement signals from the pressure meter and flow meter, for each breath and which regulates the gas flow generator so that it generates the determined gas pressure. An improved breathing mode, better tailored to the patient, is achieved by the control unit also determining the gas pressure to be generated by the gas flow generator on the basis of mechanical resistances and a variable corresponding to the aggregate effect of the resistance and elastance of the lungs.

  • Patent number: 6681142
Abstract: A method and system for computerized testing of a test piece, wherein testing is implemented by individual test modules operating in parallel. As a result, the total testing time is shortened. A central control computer and the test modules communicate via a field bus system. Implementation of a test occurs at least partially in parallel with respect to time by means of at least two different test modules. Transmission of test orders from the central computer to a test module and acknowledgment messages from the test module to the central control computer are carried by the field bus system. As a result, necessary wiring outlay is low and any interferences that occur can be quickly localized and eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6678665
Abstract: A method for protecting an item of software, wherein at least one challenge means is associated with said protected item of software, and at least one response means accesses one private keying material. The challenge means has no access to said private keying material. The response means proves to the challenge means that the response means has access to the private keying material using an asymmetric probabilistic proof, e.g., zero knowledge proof. The challenge means validates this proof using the public keying material that corresponds to the response means' private keying material.
