Abstract: A server-based files and tasks brokerage system and method are disclosed. In response to receiving a request from a requesting computing device, the server posts the request to a request queue. The request is for a requested mobile telephonic device to perform a task. The server posts a first notification to a first notification queue, in response to receiving the request. The server pushes the first notification to the requested device upon confirming a connection. Upon detecting a first condition of the task being for the requested device to receive a file, the server transfers the file from a file repository. Upon detecting a second condition of the task being for the requested device to send a file, the server transfers the file to the file repository. In response to confirming task completion, the server posts a second notification to a second notification queue associated with the requesting device.
Abstract: An improved pipe and utility protector comprising a rectangular piece of material composition featuring a down piece having a V-shaped cross-section along a longitudinal centerline, including an angular transition, to an offset mounting flange protruding slightly outward from the crest of the curved V-shape for attaching the embodiment to framing members. The flanges allow pieces to be attached together, joining framing members horizontally, vertically and at various angles throughout structures.
Abstract: A method of coating at least one exterior surface of at least one workpiece is disclosed. The method may be used for coating inner and outer surfaces of pipes. A hollow workpiece is positioned within a chamber. A spacing between a multi-dimensional interior surface of the chamber and an exterior surface of the workpiece is fixed. Conditions are established to maintain a hollow cathode effect within the spacing and within the hollow workpiece. The conditions include biasing anodes at opposite ends of a hollow cathode effect region, and biasing the interior surface of the chamber and the workpiece as cathodes. The interior surface and the workpiece may be maintained at a common bias voltage or, in at least one embodiment, at differing voltages.

Abstract: A modular wheelchair comprises a number of different modules that include a chassis module with frame members substantially centered along a center plane through the chassis, so that the chassis is able to lay flat when the modules are dissembled. The chassis is connected to a drive module by a single plug/receiver mechanical coupling that may include opposite end geometries. When the plug is in a seated position within the receiver, first end geometries of the two components mate mechanically to resist radial movement, while the second end geometries mate mechanically to resist both radial movement and rotation about an axis of the coupling. Additionally, axial movement in one direction is resisted, with the coupling oriented to apply gravitational force to resist axial movement in the opposite direction. The same arrangement may be used for a seat module.
Abstract: A method and system for transferring data between a sender and a receiver in a packet-based network is disclosed. The method comprises establishing a data channel, establishing a feedback channel, sending data to the receiver over the data channel, sending an acknowledgment to a sender on the feedback channel at a predetermined interval, using the acknowledgment to track data sent successfully and unsuccessfully to the receiver, resending data unsuccessfully sent to the receiver, and self-tuning to optimize throughput based upon the acknowledgment and react to changing network conditions.

Abstract: A machine for applying ultraviolet light to curable coatings on floors and other wide area surfaces. A housing encloses rotating arms carrying UV lamps spinning about a central axis. Rotation is caused by reactive momentum from heated air jets coming from fans in barrels blowing air over heated wires, resembling hand held hair dryers, with the barrels supported under rotating arms. The heated wires are ballast for the lamps, providing thermal and electrical stability. The rotating lamps cover an annular pattern which, when advanced forwardly, becomes a linear swath, almost as wide as the housing. A floor, or similar surface, can be cured in a few minutes.
Abstract: A method for sending and receiving text-based messages using a proxy mobile phone is disclosed. Sending includes receiving via a global communication network, at a server, an outgoing text-based message and sending the message and a directive for a proxy mobile phone to receive the message and forward the message via a wireless telephonic network to a destination device specified by a destination identifier. Receiving includes receiving, at the server, an incoming text-based message and an origin identifier indicating the message has been received by the proxy mobile phone via the wireless telephonic network and forwarded by the proxy mobile phone to the server via the global communication network. The incoming text message is provided by the server for access via the global communication network. Further, a system is disclosed having a server and a client equipped mobile phone, the system being configured to use the method.
Abstract: A water supply system in accordance with the invention includes pumping in which there is a mechanical co-dependency between the generations of liquid-draw pressure and filtration-drive pressure, but a hydraulic dependency of the application of the filtration-drive pressure upon release of water from the liquid-draw pressure. In one preferred embodiment, the system is enabled by a retrofit assembly in which a second, filtration-drive pump is mechanically connected to the pump handle of a water intake pump. The retrofit assembly may include multiple arms and hinge points for coupling the second pump to the pump handle, as well as a flow path from the output of the water intake pump to the input of the second pump and a flow path from the second pump to a filtration system. The flow path between the two pumps typically includes an unfiltered water outlet.

Abstract: A rotary machine (e.g., motor or generator) has end caps with plastic piloting rings that engage a stator's plastic winding frame in an interference fit, so that a rotor seated by bearings in the end caps is properly aligned with the stator. The flexibility of the plastic-to-plastic fit allows looser tolerances in comparison to machining of all-metal end caps, while the average circle of the piloting ring's outer diameter still assures proper concentricity of rotor shaft, bearings, piloting rings and stator.
Abstract: An alignment system for optical lithography uses cameras fixed to a movable stage and to a lithography unit to view unique microscopic non-uniformities that are inherent to the surface of a work piece, e.g., metal or ceramic microcrystalline grains, for position referencing. Stage cameras image two sites on the work piece through windows in the stage to establish original position templates. After the work piece has been repositioned, e.g., reversed topside-down, the same two sites are again viewed and template matching establishes the transformed coordinates of the work piece, e.g. by a lithography unit camera under which the stage moves to approximate site locations. Two corner cameras can serve as a coarse positioning mechanism. The alignment system is particular useful for backside alignment in printed circuit board lithography.
Abstract: A nephelometer for detecting the concentration of particulates in a sample aerosol is provided with a branched flow path with a sample aerosol input, a clean gas input and an output leading to an optical sensor unit. At least one of the inputs has periodic variable flow so that a concentration-modulated gas stream is supplied to the optical sensor unit. The detector output of the sensor unit is processed in synchrony with the concentration modulation to filter out DC components, such as 1/f noise and parasitic instrument noise.

Abstract: A moveable machine to rapidly apply and cure thin layers of a UV curable coating on a surface such as a floor. The machine has an applicator to apply a thin curable coating in a path following the direction of motion of the machine. The machine also has UV lamps to cure the curable coating with a curing beam that overlaps newly applied coating. The UV lamps emit an intense UV radiation beam creating an annular cure zone around the applicator path. Movement of the machine along with the ensuing movement of the applicator and rotating UV lamps causes the applied curable coating to be exposed to the annular cure zone and cured. This rapid curing of applicator coating paths allows the machine to be immediately passed over the cured area multiple times and rapidly build up multiple thin cured layers to achieve a thick coating.
Abstract: A motor is provided with a set of end cap guides on the ends of a stator winding assembly to pilot the placement of end caps into the correct placement relative to the stator winding assembly so that the rotor assembly is maintained concentric with the stator. The end cap guides may be rings fitting within the winding insulators on the ends of the stator stack or may be integrated as guide segments with the winding insulators to outline an interrupted cylindrical inner surface coinciding with the inner diameter of the stator winding assembly. The guides allow proper positioning of the rotor assembly without increasing the stator stack length.
