The capillary tube enters the coil where said evaporator is operatively connected to the compressor. The tube passes within the coil. The free end of the tube is bent to point back down the coil. The device cools a 12 ounce beverage can from about 75.degree. F. to about 45.degree. F. in about 4 minutes.
Abstract: A portable dispensing system includes a hollow body having two ends. A head is removably mounted on one end of the body and has an opening therethrough. A piston mechanism is removably mounted at the other end of the body. A valve mechanism for opening in response to pressure created by the piston mechanism is mounted on the head adjacent the opening. The valve mechanism includes a casing, a jaw slidably mounted on the casing for movement between an opened and closed position, and a spring mechanism urging the jaw to the closed position and yielding to pressure increases in the body. A flexible pouch is provided for receipt in the body. The pouch includes a main body made of a flexible material and a discharge portion which is integral with the main body. The discharge portion is capable of passing through the opening of the head and is for engagement with the jaw. Preferably, the pouch is fitmentless.
Abstract: Spatial disorientation trainer-flight simulator wherein a cockpit is gimballed on three independently-controlled axes, i.e., pitch, roll and yaw, which revolve about a planetary axis. Rotation of the cockpit about the planetary axis is controlled by a remote console computer. Rotation of the cockpit about the pitch and roll axes is controlled by an on board cockpit computer alone or in combination with the console computer. Rotation of the cockpit about the yaw axis is controlled by the console computer alone or in combination with the cockpit computer. Slip rings are employed at the planetary and yaw axes so as to provide 360.degree. cockpit rotation about each axis. Rotation about each of the pitch, roll and yaw axes is effected by a high torque direct drive dc motor under control of the computers. Smooth, continuous motor operation is possible over a wide range of speeds, including sub-threshold speeds not detectable by the pilot.
Abstract: A flat annular disc filter paper has a plurality of randomly oriented fibers at its surface. The paper is impregnated with a phenolic resin so as to resist compression of the disc and swelling of the paper. The filter paper is made by soaking the paper in the resin, heating the paper and resin so as to burn and melt the resin into close contact with the paper and rolling the filter paper at a temperature above ambient temperature.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved package for wrapping sterile disposable articles, such as surgical gowns. The package generally includes a generally rectangular wrapping material having corners. A strap is generally T-shaped and has three free ends. Each free end of the strap is affixed adjacent one corner of the material. A pull tab is affixed to the strap. The package is opened by pulling the tab away from the package. The sterile article is wrapped by folding the corners of the material over the article and tucking one corner under the other corners.

Abstract: A process for the surface treatment of carbon fiber tows each consisting of a multiplicity of filaments, comprises treating the tows by electrolytic oxidation, using each tow as a positive electrode and applying an electric current in the form of pulses. The pulse spacing is such that the electric supply and non-supply durations are 0.02-20 sec. each, preferably 0.1-5 seconds each. The pulse shape is rectangular, triangular, or sine waves. The applied voltage is 3-15 V and the current density 0.2-1000 A/m.sup.2, preferably 1-100 A/m.sup.2, more preferably 5-20 A/m.sup.2. The electrolyte is an aqueous solution of an oxidizing agent, strong acid or base, neutral salt, or weak acid or base.
Abstract: An ultrasonic injection nozzle includes an ultrasonic vibration generating device and a vibrating element. The vibrating element is connected to the vibration generating device so as to be vibrated thereby. The vibrating element has formed at its forward end an edged portion to and along which a liquid material is delivered to be atomized.
Abstract: A printing ribbon spool is disclosed for maintaining the print-out density or consistency of a printing ribbon. The spool contains a sealed reservoir of ink. Within the reservoir there is provided a sealed container of ink which communicates with the reservoir when it is desired to use the spool.
Abstract: First and second pads are connected by a member which is wider at the bottom than at the top. Each pad has a ground engaging element associated therewith. A generally semi-spherical bearing is provided between each ground engaging element and its associated pad so that the pads may tilt and/or rotate relative to their ground engaging element. A removable insert is provided for limiting maneuverability and thereby facilitating ease of maintaining balance by beginners.
Abstract: A microwave cookware comprising a body and a browning portion having a cooking surface and a separate heat absorbing body. The heat absorbing body is in contact with a heating matrix which absorbs microwave energy such that increased amount of heat is retained for transfer to the cooking surface.
Abstract: A gravitational fluid administration apparatus for large animals includes: a mechanism to allow a person of average strength to lift, lower, and suspend containers of blood, plasma, parenteral fluids, drugs, and supplemental salt solutions weighing as much as 25 kg without injuring the animal or human personnel; a hanger to hold the fluid containers; and a swivel mechanism to allow the suspended fluid containers to turn as the animal moves and to prevent kinking of the associated tubing. Further, there are "primary" and "secondary" tubing systems. The purpose of the primary tubing system is to convey fluids and drugs from fluid containers to the animal through a closed system.
Abstract: A splitter device for splitting a nut or other fastener comprises a frame (20) guiding a cutter (30) for movement against a nut held by an abutment end portion (24) of the frame. The cutter has two spaced parallel blade edges (35) so that the fastener is split into two parts, from the same side.
Abstract: A transformerless power supply and display energizing circuit for a clock circuit with a duplex optoelectronic display driven by a low voltage integrated clock circuit having positive and negative voltage input terminals and the duplex display having a first terminal connected to a first common cathode and a second terminal connected to a second common cathode of the display for energizing it. The transformerless circuit is powered from an AC source. An impedance, which may be either resistive or reactive, reducing the AC voltage to a level suitable for the integrated clock circuit. The transformerless circuit generates synchronous DC level-shifted pulse trains for driving the positive input terminal of the integrated clock circuit alternately between a first voltage and a reference voltage while synchronously driving the display first terminal between said first voltage and a voltage of equal amplitude and opposite polarity. The display second terminal is held at the reference voltage.
Abstract: An automatic playing device for a musical instrument includes a memory unit which stores a plurality of discrete states, e.g., patterns of key actuation of a keyboard, which can be serialized and combined with or substituted for manual keying information from a keyboard or other control device. Combining and substituting are controlled by the actuation of one or more switches by a human operator. The operator can advance through the stored pattern by actuating a single key or by playing a simple sequence of notes on a keyboard.
