  • Patent number: 6951325
Abstract: A forearm and wrist support apparatus for keyboard operators. The support apparatus attaches to a working surface and provides a comfortable resting place for the forearms of the keyboard operator. A supporting base of the apparatus comprises of a rigid lower member, side members attached to left and right sides of the lower member, and a sloping front member. Each side member includes a horizontal slot that forms a track for a sliding arm support that is housed within the apparatus. The sliding arm support has a flat rectangular shape and includes tabs on both sides to extend and retract the sliding arm support. The apparatus further includes a cushion comprising a pad attached to the front and side members that extends to the rear of the apparatus. A cover material covers the external surfaces of the front and side members. The apparatus also includes an attachment system comprising a screw clamp attached to the lower surface of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6887379
Abstract: A water purification device that can be inserted into a canteen full of impure water that allows a user to drink purified water directly from the canteen, without the need of a pump. The canteen insert is a multistage purification device that has an inlet section at one end and a canteen insert flange mouthpiece at the other end. After the present purification device has been inserted in the canteen, the user tips the bottom of the canteen upward, holding the flange mouthpiece to their mouth and squeezes gently on the sides of the canteen. This forced gravity action pushes water sequentially through the multiple purification sections of the preferred embodiment and subsequently out of the flange mouthpiece for consumption by the user. The canteen flange mouthpiece can also be replaced by a flute straw mouthpiece that allows the user to withdraw water from the canteen via the straw. The same multiple water purification stages are also used in a straw and an inline purifier embodiment.

  • Patent number: 6568455
Abstract: A method for making personalized jewelry and the personalized product of this jewelry making method. The method includes digitally capturing the image of a person or other object. The image is saved as a digital profile and processed to create a numerical profile. The numerical profile includes prototyping machine instructions that cause a prototyping machine to produce a wax block that contains a replica of the scanned object. The wax block is placed in a warm bath so that an outer wax melts away and an inner wax of the scanned object remains. The wax replica is then used in a “lost wax process” to make a mold of the wax replica. The mold is then used in a casting process wherein the mold is injected with precious, semi-precious, or base metals to make a cast of the object. The finished product is a replica of the object with exacting features such as nose, eyes, ears, etc. Any cavity or flat surface can be colored with epoxies, resins, enamels, or decorated further to give color contrast.

  • Patent number: 6544534
Abstract: A skin conditioner made of all natural ingredients that eliminates body dandruff leaving the skin able to breathe and feeling soft and supple; “skin like an angel”. The conditioner can be heated prior to application in order to provide a more relaxing feel to the user and is massaged into the skin of all or part of the body. Ingredients of the conditioner include sea salt, Epsom salt, almond oil, apricot kernel oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, aloe vera gel, castor oil, vitamin E, vegetable glycerin and soap. Essential oils may optionally be included in the conditioner to add fragrance. The preferred soap is castile however other soaps such as antibacterial soap can be used. If the product is heated prior to use, it should not be heated above 100° F. in order to prevent a change in the molecular structure of some of the ingredients.

  • Patent number: 6475096
Abstract: An “S” shaped ramp that attaches to the lap area of a wheelchair and allows a person in the wheelchair to participate in the sport of bowling. An upper portion of the ramp releaseably attaches to the wheelchair and provides the bowler with a flat portion on which she can rest a bowling ball, before pushing the ball down the ramp for continued travel down a bowling alley. The flat upper portion of the ramp may be equipped with a “stop” or “rest” area that stops or holds the bowling ball. The stop area can be an indentation or a small “speed bump” that extends across the width of the upper portion. The ball can be placed in many different locations on the upper portion and stop area, thereby allowing the bowler to choose one from among many rolling paths for their bowling ball. The selection of rolling paths is limited by the width of the ramp, which may be two to three feet for example, and the direction in which the wheelchair faces.

  • Patent number: 6458087
Abstract: One or more small metallic temperature sensors are attached to a pillow or pillowcase. Since the human head has a rich blood supply and human hair is not a significant insulator of heat, accurate temperature monitoring is achieved while the patient is sleeping. A wire attaches the sensor to a temperature monitoring unit. The monitor reads and stores the patient's temperature and sounds an alarm when the patient's temperature rises above a preset value, such as 98.5 F. The monitor can be placed in the patient's room or it can be located in another room. In cases where the “patient” is a child at home, the monitor can advantageously be place in the parent's room.

  • Patent number: 6447035
Abstract: A circular sling with at least one floating ring used to lift and move objects, such as logs and poles. Preferably, two rings located at opposite ends of the circular sling are used to pull the circle taught and create a type of double strap sling. The present sling can be used in all well known lifting techniques that traditionally employ a single strap sling as well as additional techniques made possible by the present circular sling. Particular benefits are provided when the present sling is used in a new modified double basket lifting method. The sling can be made of a man made webbing and the rings are preferably made of a metal or metal alloy. Each ring has an associated stress ball that is a solid ball used in a simple stress test. When a ring is in good working condition the stress ball passes freely through the middle of the ring. When the sling has been over stressed the ring warps slightly inward and the stress ball can no longer pass through the middle of the ring.
