Abstract: A small utility vehicle, such as a motorized scooter, has an attached vehicle supporting wheel. This wheel includes a solid rubber or plastic tire removeably mounted to a central hub. The tire when mounted to the hub rolls on the ground at a peripheral ground contact surface and defines on opposite sidewall surfaces with the solid mass of the tire there between. Each sidewall surface has periodically spaced grooves. A vehicle attached brake of the compression caliper type having two flat opposing brake shoe surfaces bears on the tire sidewalls to effect braking. During braking, one flat opposing brake shoe surface of the compression caliper bears on one sidewall surface and the remaining flat opposing brake shoe surface of the compression caliper bears on the remaining sidewall surface squeezing the solid mass of the tire there between.
Abstract: The system of the present invention includes, briefly, a point source speaker system, comprising a processor which produces a left minus right (L−R) audio signal, a right plus left (R+L) and a right minus left (R−L) audio signal; three speakers each for audibly transmitting one of the L−R, R+L and R−L audio signals; and a point source speaker enclosure for housing the three speakers in a single enclosure.
Abstract: An "all terrain" scooter is provided with a large central tubular chassis having two central brackets supporting a platform. At the rear, the tubular frame is offset to one side of the chassis for cantilevered support of the rear driven wheel. From this portion of the frame, an engine is pivotally mounted on a pivot arm at a pivot point offset from the axis of rotation of the driven wheel. This engine has a protruding driving shaft overlying the driven wheel for moving into and out of contact with the ground contact surface of the driven wheel. The pivot point of the pivot arm is offset relative to a line between the point of contact of the protruding driving shaft and the center of driven wheel rotation. This offset is in the direction of driven wheel rotation at the point of contact of the protruding driving shaft and causes increased driving contact with required increased scooter driving force.
Abstract: An improved sock wherein moisture distribution, wicking, evaporation and other phases of control are all managed by the sock construction. The moisture management sock has a toe portion knit of predominantly of hydrophilic yarn; a heel portion knit of predominantly of hydrophilic yarn; and alternating rings of hydrophobic and hydrophilic yarn located between said toe portion and said heel portion. Moisture absorbed from the wearer's foot by the hydrophilic yarn is transferred by wicking action into the hydrophobic rings and then to the leg portion to be evaporated therefrom.
Abstract: The system of the present invention includes, briefly, a point source speaker system, comprising a processor which produces a left minus right (L-R) audio signal, a right plus left (R+L) and a right minus left (R-L) audio signal; left, center and right speakers for audibly transmitting one of the L-R, R+L and R-L audio signals, respectively; left and right acoustically reflective surfaces proximate to the left and right speakers, respectively; and a point source speaker enclosure for housing the three speakers in a single enclosure.
