Abstract: An optical recording medium comprising a transparent substrate of a synthetic resin and an information recording layer provided thereon, on which medium information can be optically written, read and erased by means of a laser light, wherein said transparent substrate consists essentially of a cast-cured product of an epoxy resin composition comprising an alicyclic epoxy resin, or a mixture of a major amount of an alicyclic epoxy resin and a minor amount of an aromatic epoxy resin, an organic polybasic acid anhydride, a curing-accelerator and an anti-discoloring agent.
Abstract: A device for handling and moving generally cylindrical loads, such as cable reels, rolls of paper, sheet metal, and the like, comprising a frame supported by wheels or the like and provided with vertically pivotable, laterally movable telescoping arms for retentive engagement with the load to move said load toward and away from a load-supporting surface of said frame.
Abstract: A machine for making artificial limbs as for a Christmas tree where twisted wires having simulated needles attached are fed by a reciprocating transverse action to a pair of cutters which cut the wires to predetermined lengths while at the same time a pair of wires and a strand of decorative material are fed between a pair of pulleys where the cut lengths are attached perpendicularly to the pair of wires and decorative strand being twisted.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a combination comprising: a rail constructed for climber shoes and fall-preventing means and adapted for mounting to posts, masts, construction elements, chimneys or the like; a pair of climber shoes constructed for coaction with such a rail; and a fall-preventing means constructed for coaction with such a rail and including a runner adapted to run along the rail.
Abstract: An aqueous dispersion containing both acidic and basic proteins and gives better foaming, gelling and emulsion properties than solutions of acidic proteins alone. The basic protein may be made by modifying an acidic protein. Improved aerated products such as meringues and nougat may be made using the solutions.

Abstract: Disclosed is a sawdust discharge port which is arranged such that a side wall of a cover member covering a body frame of a chain saw and opened at its lower end and forming one of the constituent elements of the discharge port has a substantially flat outer surface, and an inner surface forming an inclined surface whose lower end edge portion is gently inclined inwardly and downwardly, thereby to permit the side wall to gradually increase in thickness toward its lower end.
Abstract: A process for producing a substrate for optical recording medium (optical disk recording medium), which comprises coating at least one inner surface of a casting mold with a radiation-curable or thermosetting resin, curing the resin to form a coating film on the mold surface or surfaces, casting into the mold an epoxy resin composition comprising an alicyclic epoxy resin or a mixture of an alicyclic epoxy resin and an aromatic epoxy resin, an organic polybasic acid anhydride, a curing accelerator and an anti-discoloring (anti-oxidative) agent, curing the epoxy resin composition to transfer the coating film of the mold to the surface of the cured product of the epoxy resin composition, thereby forming a double or triple layer cast laminate. The above casting mold may have a mold-releasing film on the inner surfaces and the coating film may be formed on this mold-releasing film.

Abstract: A method of superplastically forming an article from a light metal base alloy, of the kind capable of having its crystal structure modified by cold working in such a way that subsequent dynamic recrystallization by hot working is facilitated, comprises cold working a first blank of the alloy to form a second blank having the modified crystal structure, and then forming the second blank into the article by hot working so that dynamic recrystallization is induced and super plastic deformation occurs. The degree of modification of the crystal structure during cold working is such that as the dynamic recrystallization continues, the grain size is progressively refined.
Abstract: A throttle safety device including a coil spring mounted on the outer periphery of an operating rod and having one end secured to a fixed part of the device and an opposite end connected to a locking member to resiliently force the latter to move to an operative position. The coil spring is turned into wrapping and pressing engagement with the outer periphery of the operating rod when the locking member is in an inoperative position, so as to hold the latter in the inoperative position.

Abstract: A method of removing particulate or aggregate frost deposits from cooling-coil batteries or the like in a freezing plant during operation while maintaining the state of aggregation of the removed frost deposit, recurrently removing the frost deposits by a current of compressed air directed towards and brought to sweep over the cooling-coil batteries. The apparatus for carrying out the method includes at least one compressed-air nozzle which is adapted to be recurrently directed towards and brought to sweep over said cooling-coil batteries in order to blow away the frost deposit.
Abstract: A device which, when manually operated, will automatically return to an original position wherein a manually-operated control lever rotates at least one shaft having an arm mounted on the end of the shaft, and with a roll at the other end of the arm which abuts against one of two profiled parts when the shaft is rotated by the control lever. The two profiled parts resiliently abut a stop or stops when the arm is in an original or zero position but one profiled part abuts a stop while the other profiled part resiliently abuts the roll on the end of the arm when the shaft is rotated, and the profiled parts have steps thereon which are position markings able to be sensed manually by the control lever by a snap effect.
Abstract: The scuff resistance of high-pressure laminated plastic is improved by incorporating in or very near the surface thereof, finely divided polyethylene wax having a particle size of about 1-25 microns and a melting point of preferably 220.degree.-230.degree. F. The wax is incorporated as part of an abrasion-resistant coating mixture applied to the face of an unimpregnated decor paper sheet in an ultra-thin layer, which layer is dried at a temperature below the wax melting point and then impregnated with conventional melamine-formaldehyde resin. The impregnated sheet is placed onto a sheet of convention phenolic resin impregnated core sheets and consolidated in the conventional way under heat and pressure. During consolidation, the wax particles "bloom", or migrate to the surface. The finished laminate surface has greatly improved scuff resistance.
