    Abstract: According to the features discussed herein, through a single generalized arc-fault detection algorithm, various types of series and/or parallel arc faults can be detected without any nuisance trip for either AC or DC Electric Power Systems. Running Discrete Fourier Series (RDFS) formulation for nuisance-free operation and cost-effective implementation is developed. Unlike other methods which require numerous source and load-side current and voltage measurements, only source side current is required. An arc detector may include a first detector to monitor variations of a magnitude of a fundamental component of a current, and a second detector to monitor an overload condition based in an i2t calculation.

    Abstract: A method for use with an aggregation operation (e.g., on a relational database table) includes a sorting pass and a merging pass. The sorting pass includes: (a) reading blocks of the table from a storage medium into a memory using an aggregation method until the memory is substantially full or until all the data have been read into the memory; (b) determining a number k of blocks to write back to the storage medium from the memory; (c) selecting k blocks from memory, sorting the k blocks, and then writing the k blocks back to the storage medium as a new sublist; and (d) repeating steps (a), (b), and (c) for any unprocessed tuples in the database table. The merging pass includes: merging all the sublists to form an aggregation result using a merge-sort algorithm.

In the event of power interruption, the SSPC's actuate a second connectivity path between a second source of power and the load.     Abstract: An altitude switch limit assembly has two independent limit switches to monitor cabin pressure and back up performance of the auto and monitor channels on the aircraft. The auto channel closes a first switch upon sensing that a cabin pressure falls below a set value, the monitor channel closes a second switch upon sensing that the cabin pressure falls below the set value. A first independent limit switch may be wired to the auto channel and a second independent limit switch may be wired to the monitor channel. Logic circuitry may determine that the assembly closes an outflow valve regulating cabin pressure when either both independent limit switches sense the condition, or when one of the independent limit switch senses the condition and either the auto channel or monitor channel to which that independent limit switch may be wired senses the same condition.

    Abstract: A heat exchanger fin capable of increasing convective heat transfer by reducing internal conduction along an undesirable direction within the heat exchanger fin itself is disclosed. More specifically, the current invention reduces conduction within the heat exchanger fin along an undesirable direction along the direction of fluid flow because such conduction decreases the performance of the heat exchanger fin. A heat exchanger fin in accordance with the present invention utilizes a plurality of notches within the heat exchanger fin that is perpendicular to the direction of fluid flow to increase the resistance of conduction within the heat exchanger fin itself. By increasing the resistance of conduction in an undesired direction, the heat exchanger fin is capable of more uniform temperature to along the entire surface area to facilitate increase convective heat transfer in the desired direction.
