  • Patent number: 6332843
Abstract: A damper disk assembly is provided for use in a clutch device. The damper disk assembly has a pair of plates 5 and 6 (rotary member) elastically coupled to the hub flange 8 (rotary member) by a damper mechanism 4. The damper mechanism 4 is designed to reduce disadvantages due to nonparallel compression of an elastic member in the damper disk assembly. The damper mechanism 4 includes a plurality of coil spring assemblies 13. The coil spring assemblies 13 have a large coil spring 30, a small coil spring 31 and a pair of spring seats 34. The paired spring seats 34 are arranged on the circumferentially opposite ends of the small coil spring 31. The spring seats 34 support the circumferentially opposite ends of the small coil spring 31, and are engaged with the inner side of the small coil spring 31. The spring seats 34 are supported for rotation with respect to two kinds of rotary members around a shaft parallel to a rotation axis of the rotary members.

  • Patent number: 6331771
Abstract: A magnetic device mounts on a flat spoke of a wheel. This magnetic device can comprise a magnet and a housing. The housing is coupled to the magnet, and has a spoke-receiving recess with a non-circular cross section, and at least one detent. The detent extends from the housing into the spoke-receiving recess to secure a flat spoke within the spoke-receiving recess via a snap-fit. The magnetic device communicates with a sensing device, which is adapted to be coupled to a portion of the bicycle that is adjacent to a wheel of the bicycle. A display unit, adapted to be mounted on handlebars of the bicycle, displays the speed information obtained from the sensing device. In a second embodiment, the housing is made of a more elastic material, and the detents become optional. In a third embodiment, the spoke-receiving recess of the housing has a projection that engages a concavity form in the connecting portion of the spoke.

  • Patent number: 6234926
Abstract: A tool is provided for holding a cable fixing bolt of a bicycle component in a loose condition. This tool allows the cable fixing bolt to be shipped and stored in loose condition, while preventing the cable fixing bolt from falling out of a bicycle component. The tool can be used with the cable fixing bolt derailleurs or brake device. The tool basically has three portions. The first portion engages a head portion of the cable fixing bolt. The second portion is spaced from the first portion and is located adjacent a threaded shaft portion of the cable fixing bolt. The third portion is spaced from the second portion and engages a part of the bicycle component (e.g., a nut, a link or a brake arm). In each embodiment, the first, second and third portions are arranged relative one another to hold the cable fixing bolt in a loose condition, while preventing the cable fixing bolt from being disengaged from the part of the bicycle component.
