Abstract: An hydrolytically stable, heat-curable composition useful as an hermetic varnish for electrical conductors comprising an aqueous solution with or without organic co-solvents of:1) an adduct of an epoxide of a phenol-formaldehyde condensate and a dialkanolamine, and2) a water-soluble curing agent comprising both a phenoplast alcohol and an aminoplast such as a melamine for example, hexamethoxymethylmelamine;the cured products thereof which are useful as hermetic varnishes for electrical conductors. i.e. varnishes exposed to refrigerants such as fluorocarbons.
Abstract: This invention relates to salts of oxyalkylated amino compounds which render normally water insoluble components such as biocides, soluble in water and thereby improving their usefulness and effectiveness. These amino compounds render biocides such as methylene bis(thiocyanate) (MBT) and/or bis(trichloromethyl) sulfone (BTMS) water soluble. The soluble forms of these biocides afford more predictable, consistent and effective biocidal results when applied to systems contaminated with microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, algae, molds, and certain yeasts and thus offer considerable advantages over insoluble, dispersible, emulsified forms of these biocides.
Abstract: This invention relates to .alpha.-aminoalkylsulfur compositions and to the preparation and uses thereof, particularly as corrosion inhibitors. These compositions contain a moiety of the general formula ##STR1## in a linear or cyclic configuration.

Abstract: Amino-phosphonates are prepared by reacting an enamine with a phosphite ester, for example, according to the equation ##STR1## where OR' is an alcohol moiety and NR.sub.2 is an amino moiety, both R and R' being preferably hydrocarbon such as alkyl or R.sub.2 is part of a ring structure. These compounds have many uses, for example, as corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, fuel stabilizers, etc. In addition, amino-phosphonates can be converted to alpha, beta - unsaturated phosphonates according to the equation ##STR2## which are useful in forming flame retardant polymers and copolymers.
Abstract: This invention relates to a composition comprising (1) a phenoxy resin and (2) at least two compositions selected from (a) phenolic resins, (b) melamine resins and (c) polyisocyanates; to the cured products thereof; and to an electrical conductor coated with said cured products.

Abstract: This invention relates to compositions of the formula ##STR1## where R is a hydrocarbon, A is alkylene, and Z is S, SO, SO.sub.2, and salts thereof. This invention also relates to uses thereof, for example as microbiocidal agents, corrosion inhibitors, etc.
Abstract: This invention relates to the following compounds: ##STR1## Process for their preparation and uses thereof, where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are substituted groups, and R.sub.6, R.sub.5, R.sub.4 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen or substituted groups.
Abstract: This invention relates to non-halogen salts of nitrogen and/or nitrogen-sulfur heterocyclics as corrosion inhibitors for stainless steel-containing systems. These are more effective as corrosion inhibitors when employed in combination with surfactants, preferably of the non-ionic type such as oxyalkylates.
Abstract: 2,5-dihydrothiazoles are prepared by reacting aza-alkylene-dienes with sulfur at relatively low temperatures for example below about 160.degree. C. Where the reaction is carried out at relatively higher temperature, for example above about 160.degree. C., such as 160.degree. to 250.degree. C., 4,5-dihydrothiazoles are formed. In addition 2,5-dihydrothiazoles can be converted to 4,5-dihydrothiazoles by heating them to temperatures above about 160.degree. C.
