    Abstract: A computer is programmed to automatically identify multiple sequences of executable code such that each sequence fits within a page of memory. When the executable code comprising several sequences is loaded into the paged memory, each sequence is placed in its own page. The computer is further programmed to prepare a number of structures which identify a corresponding number of instructions that transfer control between sequences. Each structure identifies at least a control transfer instruction in one sequence and a target in another sequence. When loading the sequences into memory, the structures are used to replace destination addresses of control transfers between sequences with new addresses derived from base addresses of pages that have been allocated in memory to hold the sequences.

    Abstract: A multi-domain vertical alignment liquid crystal display that does not require physical features on the substrate (such as protrusions and ITO slits) is disclosed. Each pixel of the MVA LCD is subdivided into color components, which are further divided into color dots. The color components include polarized extension regions that extend between color dots of neighboring color components (and neighboring pixels). The voltage polarity of the color dots and polarized extension regions are arranged so that fringe fields in each color dot causes multiple liquid crystal domains in each color dot. Specifically, the color dots and polarity extension regions of the display are arranged so that neighboring polarized elements have opposite polarities.

The silicon filter has introduced impurities that reduce the recombination lifetime which reduces or eliminate photoluminescence in the silicon filter in response to the excitation light, thereby improving the signal to noise ratio of the signal received by the detector.

A tree of nodes in a cell of the matrix table may be expanded or collapsed upon request.

Furthermore, the checkerboard pattern is extended across multiple pixels in the MVALCD. In addition, many display unit include multiple pixel designs to improve color distribution or electrical distribution.

    Abstract: A controller uses N dedicated ports to receive N signals from N non-volatile memories independent of each other, and uses a bus in a time shared manner to transfer data to and from the N non-volatile memories. The controller receives from a processor, multiple operations to perform data transfers, and stores the operations along with a valid bit set active by the processor. When a signal from a non-volatile memory is active indicating its readiness and when a corresponding operation has a valid bit active, the controller starts performance of the operation. When the readiness signal becomes inactive, the controller internally suspends the operation and starts performing another operation on another non-volatile memory whose readiness signal is active and for which an operation is valid. A suspended operation may be resumed any time after the corresponding readiness signal becomes active and on operation completion the valid bit is set inactive.

    Abstract: A new continuous query to a data stream management system (DSMS) may use several operators that are equivalent to operators currently being used by continuous queries that have been previously registered in the DSMS. To determine equivalence of operators, the DSMS checks at least the function and the data input to the operators. On finding equivalence, the DSMS modifies a global plan being executed, to use at least an existing subtree of operators during execution of the new continuous query, to generate a modified plan. The DSMS is also programmed to cause each relation source operator (which outputs a relation) to propagate a current state of the relation to each operator newly coupled to the relational operator. After propagation of current state to newly-coupled operators, each operator in the modified plan processes any new data and supplies the result to all operators coupled thereto, including newly-coupled operators and existing operators.

The spectral data is evaluated to determine a plurality of peak intensity values for wavelengths in the spectra. The peak intensities are then combined to form the measured spectrum for the sample, which can then be used to determine the sample properties of interest. In one embodiment, the peak intensity is determined based on the measured maximum intensity and a number n of intensity values around the measured maximum intensity, e.g., using curve fitting. If desired, the number n may be varied as a function of wavelength to vary the effective spot size of the metrology system while optimizing noise performance. The peak intensity may also be derived as the measured maximum intensity or through a statistical analysis.
