  • Patent number: 7958666
Abstract: A motion-type predator decoy for attracting coyotes, wild dogs and other pest or nuisance predators for use in ranching, farming, recreation land management, public safety and sporting fields. The decoy has a support base for placement during use on an environmental surface. The base includes a downwardly disposed surface contact end of a predetermined lateral dimension and an upwardly disposed support end of a predetermined lateral dimension. The decoy also has a driven decoy mechanism connected to the support end of the base. The decoy mechanism includes an actuator and a flexible decoy member. The actuator generates vibrations and the decoy mechanism undergoes random longitudinal, radial and lateral movement components with respect to the base. A method of using the decoy is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7938641
Abstract: An extrusion die comprises a die body defining a die cavity (18). The cavity (18) is shaped such that the die body includes a male portion (24) and a female portion (26). A leading edge (18a) of a part of one side of the die cavity (18) is out of alignment with a leading edge (18a) of an opposing part of the die cavity (18), at rest, such that, in use, when deflection of parts of the die occurs, the leading edges (18a) substantially align.

  • Patent number: 7927287
Abstract: A method of determining breeding status in animals by (a) determining a breeding event (cyclicity, mounting, pregnancy, open) time, (b) providing an estrus or other breeding event detection apparatus, (c) affixing the estrus detection apparatus at a predetermined location on a female animal at a predetermined application time prior to the breeding event time, and (d) monitoring the estrus detection apparatus for activation thereof. An indicator apparatus is provided for use in indicating when an animal is in estrus. The apparatus is configured to be affixed to the rump of an animal to detect and indicate when the animal has been mounted and, thus, when the animal is in estrus. The apparatus is affixed to the animal by an adhesive layer. Layered on the top surface of the adhesive layer is an indicator layer that is in turn covered with a floodcoat layer. The floodcoat layer is adapted for removal upon the mounting of the first animal by a second animal.

  • Patent number: 7927307
Abstract: The invention relates to a hypodermic injection system having a direct-drive motor for moving a ram towards an injectate chamber for discharging injectate therein through a discharge orifice. The system can have an injection head attached to a housing having an injectate chamber for holding injectate to be injected, a remote discharge device with a control apparatus or the structure for holding a cartridge containing injectate. The injectate supply could be a bottle, a remote reservoir or a cartridge. An injection head can have a nose actuator for enabling an injection only if the nose actuator has engaged the body to be injected. A clamping device clamps the body to be injected. Control is effected through a microprocessor to which the electrically-operated parts of the invention are attached. Control and output signals are readable through an electronic display.

  • Patent number: 7900503
Abstract: An apparatus and method for measuring or comparing rheological properties of fluid samples in parallel is disclosed. The apparatus includes a plurality of sensing elements which are comprised of flow channels and reservoirs in fluid communication. The channels provide flow paths for the fluid samples which are initially contained within external reservoirs. The method includes flowing the fluid samples at variable rates and monitoring simultaneously sample flow rates from the reservoirs through a plurality elements for one or more increments of time. The disclosed method is capable of measuring or comparing rheological properties of at least two fluid samples simultaneously. Useful flow rates monitoring devices include optical array sensors and image analysis systems.

  • Patent number: 7887135
Abstract: A headrest device of a chair in which a headrest can be stably supported by a headrest frame and the operation for mounting a vertically moving member of the headrest is easily performed. Guide grooves are formed in the side faces of guide rails at the front faces of the right and left side-rods of the headrest frame. The right and left guide rails are so held by a pair of right and left lifting brackets, which are provided on the rear surface of the headrest and are formed in rearward U-shape when viewed from above, as to be capable of sliding vertically from the front. Projected guide pieces formed to be projected on the inner surfaces of both vertically moving brackets and facing in the vertical direction are slidably fitted into the guide grooves of the right and left guide rails.
