    Abstract: The clutch is of the pull type having a detent ring between a first member and a second member, and having a detent release sleeve. On release of the detent ring, the members can be separated with the detent ring and sleeve carried on respective members. The sleeve has a peripheral surface engageable within the ring, the surface having a formation thereon whereby during separation of the members following release of the detent ring, relative movement will take place between the detent release sleeve and the member on which it is carried.

The razor is useful for shaving over the jaw bone or shin bone areas for example without cutting the skin and may be pressed by the fingers of the user to delicately shave most any contoured area found on the normal skin of a human being.

A manifold positioned vertically above the mold communicates with the interior of each bore and a condenser is disposed vertically above and communicates with the manifold. The bores and manifold are at least partially filled with a liquid such as distilled water which partially evaporized during operation of the mold and the vapor rinse to the condenser is converted back to liquid and return by gravity to the manifold and mold bores.

    Abstract: A friction material and carrier assembly (which is to be used in the construction of a driven plate of a dry friction clutch) comprises a circular carrier plate having at its periphery radially extending spokes or paddles which are elastically pliable axially of the carrier plate. Two annular friction facings which are resilient and capable of flexing are bonded by respective layers of silicone rubber to opposite sides of the paddles. Each rubber layer can be formed by a plurality of strips or beads of rubber. The paddles arrangement is capable of sinuous flexing circumferentially of the assembly, and when the assembly is in a driven plate in a clutch applying the clamp load specified for the clutch, the overall axial thickness of the combination formed by the paddles and rubber layers and the friction facings is reduced by between 0.05 mm and 2.00 mm.

    Abstract: An economical heat pump system which uses a multifluid heat exchanger and the basic components of conventional heat pump systems including, as appropriate, a desuperheat exchanger. The invention may be operated in two conventional refrigerant flow configurations including heat pump space heating and cooling and simultaneous hot water heating via the desuperheater. The use of a multifluid heat exchanger allows the two refrigerant flow configurations to have nine operational modes. In one flow configuration the refrigerant is from the compressor, through the desuperheater, through a reversing valve, through the outdoor heat exchanger, through an expansion device, through the indoor heat exchanger and back to the compressor via the reversing valve. In the second configuration, the refrigerant flow is from the compressor, through the desuperheater, through the reversing valve, through the indoor heat exchanger, through an expansion device, through the outdoor heat exchanger and back to the compressor.

    Abstract: A self-adjusting mechanical cable-control apparatus 6 (FIG. 1) has one end 14 of the cable 1 connected to a pedal 3 by a slotted yoke 17 having a transverse coupling member 22 extending through a U-shaped aperture 21 in the pedal. A tubular spacer 23 of rigid thermoplastics extends co-axially of the cable 1 and co-operates with the yoke 17 and a fixed wall 8 to limit movement of the cable 1 toward a member 4 to be actuated by the influence of resilient biasing spring structure associated with the member 4, thereby defining a rest position unaffected by accidental excessive return displacement of the pedal. A saddle 26 of plastics material having a low co-efficient of friction lines the U-shaped aperture 21 and is connected to the yoke 17 by a spring 33 biassing the pedal 3 toward the yoke 17 and a pedal stop 13.

The cover members and reaction plate are drivingly interconnected and adapted to be connected in axially fixed realtionship to the fly wheel, and pressure plates are drivingly connected to the cover members and reaction plate while being moveable axially thereof.

    Abstract: A torsional vibration damper for the driven plate of a friction clutch comprises a hub, a flange extending radially out from the hub and an outer member comprising an annular side plate arranged to one side of the flange and having a central aperture such that the side plate surrounds the hub with a clearance. The side plate is capable of limited angular movement relative to the flange with circumferentially directed resilient means acting between the flange and the side plate to control the angular movement. A friction damper is provided between the hub and the side plate and comprises a resilient friction element supported in the central aperture of the side plate and bearing against the outer surface of the hub.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a method for cladding a wire-shaped steel element (1) with an aluminium coating layer (3) by passing the steel wire (1) through an extrusion orifice (8), whereby plastified aluminium is fed through a closed feed channel (7) preceding the orifice (8) and is applied under pressure on the wire-shaped steel element (1) in the orifice (8) for forming the coating (3). According to the invention, the steel wire (1) is provided with a corrosion-resistant layer (2) with a thickness of 1 to 25 micron, which layer (2) has a lower melting temperature than the melting temperature of the aluminium to be applied and whereby during the coating process the temperature of the protective layer (2) which comes in contact with the aluminium remains lower than the melting temperature of the layer (2).This invention also relates to coated steel wires according to the invention.

    Abstract: In a diaphragm spring clutch, a clutch driven plate is clampable against a rotatably driven counter - pressure plate by a pressure plate urged by a diaphragm spring. To cushion clutch re-engagements the pressure plate has an annular array of spaced lands facing the diaphragm spring and supporting a resilient fulcrum ring having spanning portions spanning the spaces between the lands, the spanning portions of the fulcrum ring being in contact with respective radial ribs on a face of the diaphragm spring. As the diaphragm spring increasingly urges the pressure plate during a clutch re-engagement, the spanning portions of the fulcrum ring are resiliently deformed by the ribs into the spaces between lands to axially cushion the re-engagement.

    Abstract: Transfer means for transferring a continuous elongate product, such as wire, bar or tubular products associated with a continuous extrusion machine, between two stations in the production line. Axial tensioning means 8, 10 each consisting of a pair of resiliently tyred wheels 12, 14 positioned to grip the elongate product 2 and driven by a low inertia, electric, motor induce an axial tension in the elongate product 2. The elongate product forms a curve 20 of catenary form between the axial tensioning means 8, 10. A control signal indicative of the gravitational deflection of the curve is derived from an ultra-light dancer arm 22, or an optical or ultra-sonic sensor, and is utilized in combination with a signal derived from product speed sensor means 24 to control the speed of the low inertia, electric, motors and thus the tension in the elongate product.

    Abstract: A switch/display unit comprises a dot matrix display, having two sets of elongate electrodes, one set being inclined to the other, these sets being applied to opposite sides of a display medium. A transparent dielectric panel is superimposed in front of the display, so that the first set of electrodes, which are formed from a transparent conductive material abut the rear surface of the dielectric panel. A transparent conductive layer is formed in front of the dielectric panel, so that it will capacitively couple electrodes of the first set of electrodes with other electrodes of the first set of electrodes or other electrodes on the rear surface of the dielectric panel. This capacitive coupling may be varied by touching or moving the conductive layer. By applying read pulses to one of the sets of electrodes that are capacitively coupled via the conductive coating and sensing the pulses transmitted to the other electrodes, actuation of the switch can be detected.
