  • Patent number: 6479102
Abstract: A method of using a penetrating protective sealer to mark a message onto a porous surface is provided. Once the sealer has been applied to the surface and is allowed to dry, the message will not be visible. An indicator dye can be used to aid in application of the sealer; once the sealer has fully cured, the indicator dye is no longer visible. When the marked surface becomes wet, the portion of the surface that has been treated by the sealer will repel water; the remainder of the surface will absorb water and turn dark. The contrast in color created between the darker, untreated/wet, surface and the lighter, treated/dry, surface will result in a visible message to an observer. The message can be a warning or an advertisement. A thickened penetrating sealer composition and a method of using the same is provided. The thickened sealer results in neat, clean, crisp edges for the message.

  • Patent number: 6453737
Abstract: A tire pressure monitor method enables the reassignment of tire pressure sensors to respective tire locations on the vehicle in the event that the sensors are lost or replaced with new sensors having differing identification codes. A passenger compartment monitors, that normally monitor tire pressures through broadcast transmission from the sensors, is manually put into an identification entry mode selecting a desired tire location, and when the vehicle begins travel, a motion switch in the new sensor detects vehicular motion and activates the transmission of the new identification code that is received by the monitor that then assigns the presently selected tire location to received identification code.

  • Patent number: 6347412
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for diverting sound from a direction generally rearward of a user towards the user's ears. The apparatus includes a sound reflector which can be worn by the user directly or connected to a separate mount such as a helmet. A connection between the sound reflector and the helmet may be fixed or adjustable. An adjustable connection may be removable or permanent. When a helmet mount is used, the apparatus can include a splitter positioned between two sound reflectors. The splitter directs sound to each of the two sound reflectors. The addition of buffer pads aid the sound reflectors in deflecting air around the user's ears to reduce wind noise and increase the user's ability to hear sounds originating from the rearward direction.

  • Patent number: 6338687
Abstract: A batting swing device is presented which enables a batter to determine whether or not his swing is good or bad. The device is designed for use by both baseball and softball players. It is intended to teach hitters the correct path that a bat must travel during a swing in order to most effectively hit a ball to all parts of a playing field. The device is approximately 5 inches in outer diameter and three inches in inner diameter, and shaped similar to a doughnut. The inner diameter is flat to enable the device to easily slip on and off a baseball bat. The device is made of polyethylene plastic and weighs approximately two ounces. When a batter takes a swing with the device slipped onto the bat and above the batter's hands, the direction of travel of the device will determine whether or not the batter has made a good swing. If the device travels towards the pitcher's mound, or within a 50 degree angle measured off of the pitcher's mound, the batter's swing was a correct one.
