  • Patent number: 4108710
Abstract: Method and apparatus for continuous high speed application of labels to containers wherein the adhesive is applied to a predetermined location upon each of a succession of containers moved past a vacuum drum applying the leading edge of a label to each container at such location. The labels are successively cut from a strip by means ensuring continuous label movement and have an adhesive applied to a trailing edge thereof before application to containers. The containers are then moved to a discharge station where the labels are wrapped about the containers.

  • Patent number: 4076579
Abstract: Particulate lignocellulosic material, having a moisture content of about 10-80 weight percent, is treated at temperatures below about 50.degree. C. with 2 to 8 weight percent nitric oxide based on the weight of dry lignocellulosic material. Thereafter, said nitric oxide treated material is reacted with molecular oxygen to form nitric acid in situ. This reaction is followed by washing of said material with alkali and extraction of said material with alkali at a temperature above about 140.degree. C. to delignify the lignocellulose and form pulp.

  • Patent number: 4019027
Abstract: For the scheduling of activities, particularly construction activities by the Critical Path Method, an apparatus is provided with a mechanical simulation of the network associated with the method, and is adapted to support a network chart of activities and events. It has a progress bar for monitoring such activities and events, which is power driven at a constant rate for indicating the scheduled progress of the entire project at any given time, whereby the scheduler can determine at a glance at the board what adjustments, if any, need be made in the timing and progress of the various activities of the project.

  • Patent number: 3979252
Abstract: A method and apparatus of continuously producing a cellular structure wherein plies of flexible sheets are fed under tension, one through a glue station wherein precisely aligned longitudinal lines of adhesive are applied to a first face of one of the plies which are then adhered along said lines, followed by passing the resultant adhered plies as a web through a second station under tension where precisely aligned longitudinal lines of adhesive are applied to an exterior web face, and such web then fed as a continuous loop to intermittent web drive means. The web is intermittently fed into a cutting zone in precise increments and sheared to form successive strips that are forced into an assembly zone where the strips are adhered together to form an expandable cellular structure suitable for direct expansion and use as a honeycomb core. The loop provides a preformed unrestrained surge section ahead of the intermittent feed to accommodate in such section.

  • Patent number: 3945309
Abstract: Cooking apparatus for loose food products comprises a bowl having support means resting on the top or rim thereof carrying downwardly extending prongs for breaking up loose product carried by a scraper blade rotatable over the bottom of the bowl, and also carrying downwardly extending paddles which remove product carried by the scraper blade. A drive shaft extending upwardly from below the bottom of the bowl is detachably connected to a hub to which the scraper blade is connected. The support means for the prongs and paddles is removably mounted on the top rim or edge of the bowl to enable ready detachment for cleaning purposes. Disconnection of the drive shaft from the blade hub permits ready removal of the bowl for cleaning purposes; the bowl being removably mounted on a support stand. The drive shaft includes a detachable connection so that the bowl may be tilted on the stand to pour grease therefrom.

  • Patent number: 3944190
Abstract: A portable transit mix unit comprising a support base and concrete mixer drum thereon, is provided with rollers movably connected to the base whereby the base can be elevated out of engagement with the bed of a truck or lowered to support the unit directly on the bed. In the elevated position of the base, the unit can be rolled off of the truck bed onto a support stand. This enables the truck to be used for other purposes while the unit is supported on the stand. The stand includes a tiltable platform which when inclined forwardly, facilitates transfer of the unit from the platform onto the truck bed.
