  • Patent number: 8196782
Abstract: Device for ice cream distributor in cooled windows and similar, fit to prevent the ice cream melting in the outlet area comprises at least a duct with an outlet hole and control element of the ice cream flow. In the outlet duct (2) is inserted a piston (5) with a stem (6), or similar, which, at distributing position, is placed beyond the outlet hole (3) through which the ice cream exits. while, at rest position, is placed before the outlet hole (3), in such a way to block the ice cream exit. During the return motion, the piston (5) brings back the ice cream already in the duct into the inner portion of the cooled space, delimited by the dividing wall (4), or in same container (1), in such a way to avoid the ice cream melting at the end portion.

  • Patent number: 8173359
Abstract: A sample of unknown bacterial spores is added to a test strip. The sample of unknown bacterial spores is drawn to a first sample region on the test strip by capillary action. Species-specific antibodies are bound to the sample when the unknown bacterial spores match the species-specific antibodies, otherwise the sample is left unbound. DPA is released from the bacterial spores in the bound sample. The terbium ions are combined with the DPA to form a Tb-DPA complex. The combined terbium ions and DPA are excited to generate a luminescence characteristic of the combined terbium ions and DPA to detect the bacterial spores. A live/dead assay is performed by a release of the DPA for live spores and a release of DPA for all spores. The detection concentrations are compared to determine the fraction of live spores.

  • Patent number: 8168102
Abstract: A machine utilized for producing and manufacturing a film, soft at touch, resilient and suitable at draining use. A film produced by such a machine, presents, at least, on one surface an essentially continuous pattern of micro-funnels three-dimensional (3D) directed in an essentially perpendicular way to the surface from which the micro-openings have origin. It presents also on the opposite surface a continuous pattern, composed by 3D macro-funnels directed in an essentially perpendicular way to the surface from which the macro-funnels have origin. The “micro-funnels” term, intend to describe a multitude of funnels non distinguishable by the human eye at a distance equal or higher than 450 mm. while the “macro funnels” term, intend to describe funnels clearly visible by the human eye at a distance higher than 450 mm.

  • Patent number: 8164663
Abstract: For a source-follower signal chain, the ohmic drop in the selection switch causes unacceptable voltage offset, non-linearity, and reduced small signal gain. For an op amp signal chain, the required bias current and the output noise rises rapidly with increasing the array format due to a rapid increase in the effective capacitance caused by the Miller effect boosting up the contribution of the bus capacitance. A new switched source-follower signal chain circuit overcomes limitations of existing op-amp based or source follower based circuits used in column multiplexers and data readout. This will improve performance of CMOS imagers, and focal plane read-out integrated circuits for detectors of infrared or ultraviolet light.

  • Patent number: 8138946
Abstract: Systems and methods for notification of presence of emergency vehicles are described. The system includes an acoustic receiver to be mounted on a car, and a detection circuit connected with the car radio receiver. As soon as the detection circuit detects presence of an emergency vehicle near the car, it lowers the volume of the car radio receiver, thus allowing the car's driver to be alerted of the presence of the emergency vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8123192
Abstract: Communication between microchannels of a microfluidic circuit is controlled through a combination between a membrane and a pin-actuated valve arrangement. The deformable membrane contributes to the formation of the surface of the microchannels. Alternatively, or in addition, the valve arrangement is operated through combination of the membrane with a control fluid. Systems, devices and methods based on such communication are shown. Also shown are methods to manufacture a system having a fluidic circuit and a control arrangement.
