Abstract: A thermally expandable material is provided that, once expanded, has a Young's storage modulus E? between 0.1 MPa and 1000 MPa, a loss factor of at least 0.3 (preferably, at least 1) and preferably a shear storage modulus G? between 0.1 MPa and 500 MPa at a temperature between ?10 and +40 degrees C. in the frequency range 0 to 500 Hz. Such materials are useful in combination with a carrier to form a dissipative vibratory wave barrier that effectively reduces the transfer of vibrations from a vibration generator, as may be present in a vehicle.
Abstract: Uncured solvent-based paint may be flushed from a paint delivery installation using a substantially non-aqueous composition containing one or more organic solvents and a polymer having acid and/or amine functional groups.
Abstract: One-component moisture-curing hot melt adhesive compositions based on reaction products from di- or polyisocyanates and polyether-polyols, crystalline or partly crystalline polyester-polyols and low molecular weight polymers from olefinically unsaturated monomers and optionally hydroxylated tackifying resins are suitable for high-strength and ageing-resistant gluing of profiles of plastics to one- or multilayer acrylate films.

Abstract: Alkyl-substituted hydroxylamines are useful as aids in the phosphating of metal substrates. In particular, the rate of phosphating and the rate at which manganese compounds are dissolved into aqueous phosphoric acid solutions may be accelerated by alkyl-substituted hydroxylamines.
Abstract: A hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive composition which, as a result of the use of a hydrogenated styrene-butadiene-butylene-styrene block copolymer, has improved properties in respect of immediate adhesion and also the removal of the hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive composition from a carrier substrate without leaving a residue, is described.
Abstract: A pasty single component polyurethane adhesive is provided. The NCO terminated polyurethane prepolymer is substantially linear, contains from 2.0% to 8.0% based on the weight of the prepolymer, of highly disperse silica and up to 10% by weight, based on the weight of the prepolymer, of additives. The one component adhesive has an Expressed Volume of at least 2,000 g/min measured according to DIN EN 29048 and a Creep Resistance measure according to DIN EN 27390 below 6.0 after 5 minutes.

Abstract: A novel expandable composition and method for using the same are disclosed. The disclosed method relates to using the composition, for example, as an automotive cavity sealant. The inventive composition normally is a combination of at least one base polymer, at least one expansion or blowing agents, at least one hydrocarbon resin, at least one curing agent or catalyst and optionally at least one additives such as a supplemental polymer, colorant, tackifier, processing oil, among others.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing polymers by gas-phase deposition polymerization, initiated by a zero valent metal and an initiator.
Abstract: A process for pickling martensitic or ferritic stainless steel, preferably in the form of wires, tubes or rods, wherein the stainless steel is placed in contact with a pickling solution which has a temperature in the range 15 to 29° C. and contains 50 to 120 g/l of free sulfuric acid, 5 to 40 g/l of free HF and 5 to 40 g/l of Fe(III) ions. Such pickling may be incorporated into a sequential process, wherein the stainless steel is a) subjected to a treatment during which the oxidic coating is applied, preferably sand-blasting or metal-blasting, treatment with a molten salt or treatment with an aqueous permanganate/alkali metal hydroxide solution, b) pickled in accordance with the aforedescribed process, and c) post-treated with a passivating solution.
