  • Patent number: 6241449
Abstract: A receiving frame, mounted on a horizontal platform includes a sub-frame that is tiltable, with respect to the platform, and has an elevator and elevator platform on its rear wall. The receiving frame receives a stack of tiers of plastic containers on a pallet. The pallet is positioned on the elevator platform. The sub-frame tilts 30 degrees off the vertical, out the open back of the receiving frame. A cover and tier sheet gripping device is provided, located above the top of the sub-frame, for securing and removing the top cover and tier sheets from the stack of tiers on the pallet, on the elevator platform. With the sub-frame tilted at 30 degrees off vertical, the elevator incrementally lifts its platform so that the base of the containers in the top tier and adjacent the rear wall of the sub-frame are at level with the top of the rear wall.

  • Patent number: 6207193
Abstract: There is disclosed a transdermal drug delivery system wherein a drug or therapeutic agent is encapsulated in a water soluble carbohydrate. The carbohydrate-encapsulated drug or therapeutic agent, in the form of finely divided particles, is suspended in a cyanoacrylate ester which is applied to the skin of a mammal. Moisture on the skin and contact with skin tissue causes the cyanoacrylate to polymerize and the moisture on the skin also dissolves the carbohydrate permitting the drug or therapeutic agent, over time, to enter the body system through the pores of the skin.

  • Patent number: 6174122
Abstract: A carrier container having sides, ends and a bottom defining an open face holding chamber, is provided for loading a stack of tiers loaded on a pallet into the holding chamber. The stack of tiers comprises a plurality of tier sheets, each supporting a plurality of products aligned in groups on each tier. The tier sheets are disposed vertically, defining a stack. The stack is positioned on and secured to the pallet. Loading of the stack of tiers and pallet into the holding chamber is accomplished with the holding chamber in a vertical orientation. After loading the stack of tiers and pallet into the holding chamber the carrier container is rotated from a vertical orientation to a horizontal orientation, securing the stack of tiers and pallet in the holding chamber. Each of the tier sheets is removed from the stack destroying the stack and displacing the products from the stack, the products retained in the holding chamber.

  • Patent number: 6109453
Abstract: The instant invention provides a television channel selection station. The station includes a substantially rectangular planar member, an arrangement for attaching a program schedule guide having a column of television station call letter designation data indicia along the at least one page edge of it, opposite the folds of the guide, to the member, a channel designator on the station but separate from the member, but designed to slidably engage relative to the member in a left or right dimensional displacement, and/or up or down dimensional displacement, positioned to the right, of an attached program schedule guide; and, a scheme for attaching a remote control to the member.

  • Patent number: 5919163
Abstract: The instant invention provides a novel double balloon catheter which includes a first fixed balloon on the cranial end of the catheter; a second slidable balloon positioned around the catheter and spaced from the first fixed balloon; and, structure for enabling the second balloon to slide along the plastic tube between a first position defining a minimum distance between the first balloon and the second balloon, and a second position defining a maximum distance between the first balloon and the second balloon. The invention also contemplates a novel method of using the catheter.

  • Patent number: 5897533
Abstract: An arrangement for controlling the flow of blood between the annulus between a catheter and an elastomeric tube which encases it is provided. The arrangement also controls the ease of lateral movement of the catheter in relationship to the elastomeric tube. The arrangement includes a substantially rigid telescoping tube for supporting the elastomeric tube therewithin. The rigid telescoping tube further includes an inner tube having a pin disposed on the outer circumference thereof; and an outer tube having an opening therein forming a slot, and a plurality of substantially equally spaced stops; a first clamping arrangement for fixing one end of the elastomeric tube to the end of the outer tube furthest from the inner tube; and, a second clamping arrangement for fixing the other end of the elastomeric tube to the end of the inner tube furthest from the outer tube.

  • Patent number: 5851209
Abstract: A bone cerclage tool for conformally slidably abutting a device circumferentially about a bone, such that orthopedic surgical procedures can be performed on and/or in the vicinity of the bone with minimal access and/or visibility and satisfying the need for complex maneuvering around anatomical parts and minimizing unnecessary tissue removal and contact with delicate areas. The bone cerclage tool can be used to encircle a bone with a suture, wire, cable, band, or device, to secure the bone in place, or perform operations on the bone or in the vicinity of the bone. The bone cerclage tool has a resilient member housed within a curved tube for guiding a device adjoined to the resilient member circumferentially about the bone and an exit section for directing the device to conformally slidably abut against the bone as the device is extended from the exit section. A push-pull member housed within a tubular housing and adjoined to the resilient member is used to extend or retract the device.
