  • Patent number: 4657400
Abstract: A device for mixing, milling or kneading feed materials, such as plastics and fillers, including a pair of spaced apart upper and lower discs defining therebetween a mixing zone. Each disc has an operating surface and is adapted so that by rotation of one of the discs, a relative motion between the two operating surfaces may be maintained. A collecting ring with a groove extending along the inner surface thereof is provided around the periphery of the mixing zone to define an annular passage which is in fluid communication with the mixing zone and which is open at one end and closed at the other end. By rotation of one of the discs, the mixed product is collected in the passage, displaced therethrough and discharged from the open end portion or scraped off at the closed portion for recovery.

  • Patent number: 4624821
Abstract: A process and apparatus for the blow molding of oriented, hollow containers from tubular parisons in which a tubing of plastic material at a suitable orientation temperature for the material is passed by a puller assembly to a cutter assembly. The free end of the tubing is grasped by a parison transfer assembly, after which parisons are cut from the tubing by the cutter assembly and positioned by the transfer assembly for placement within blow molders. The first of two blow molders moves toward the tubing centerline from a molding position to receive a parison. The parison transfer assembly is extended vertically to place the parison within the molding cavity of the open blow molder. The upper end of the parison is grasped by a tube clamp, and as the parison transfer assembly retracts, the parison is stretched prior to molder closure. The closed blow molder returns to its molding position to complete the blow molding of a finished, oriented container.

  • Patent number: 4590669
Abstract: A resistance thermometer having a resistance temperature detector (RTD) element fixedly supported within a tubular metallic sheath by a compacted insulating material is manufactured by integrally connecting in series two tubular metallic sheaths by pressure welding. The first sheath has a smaller diameter portion which can be inserted into and received by the second sheath. The manufacture method includes the steps of: supporting electrical conductors in the first sheath using the insulating material, electrically joining the RTD element to the conductors supported in the first sheath, putting a metallic ring on the smaller diameter portion of the first sheath, inserting the smaller diameter portion of the first sheath into the second sheath with the RTD element being accommodated within the second sheath, and ramming the metallic ring radially inwardly so that the first and second sheaths are integrally bonded by pressure welding.

  • Patent number: 4586008
Abstract: A passive integrator capable of correctly providing outputs with risetimes as short as 250 ps. An outer conductor has coaxially mounted therein a short length of an inner conductor so as to constitute a very low impedance transmission line. The short length and low impedance of this transmission line cause it to behave as a capacitor. Electrostatically shielded resistors are connected to both ends thereof by a center conductor. Compensating capacitors coaxially mounted therewith may be employed.

  • Patent number: 4560088
Abstract: A vending machine having a plurality of helically-wound dispensing coils with merchandise items disposed between adjacent coil convolutions is provided with a coil operating system movable along X-Y axes. A first drive motor rotates a vertically-oriented shaft to reciprocate a traveler movable thereon and supporting a horizontally-disposed member. A second drive motor and a counter-balancing weight, mounted adjacent to the ends of the member, are interconnected by a second shaft rotatably secured to the second motor and the weight. A horizontally-movable traveler carrying a dispensing coil actuator reciprocates along the second shaft. A control unit responds to signals from a coin-operated merchandise selector to move both travelers, vertically and horizontally, respectively, to position the actuator adjacent to the dispensing coil for the selected item. Operation of the actuator motor rotates the coil to dispense the item.

  • Patent number: 4512510
Abstract: Carriers each carrying a printed circuit board is conveyed successively through a soldering zone to dip each printed circuit board in molten solder contained in a vessel disposed below a space defined by two pairs of parallel front and rear rails. The four rails are engageable with four wheels of the carrier simultaneously and are vertically moveable so the printed circuit board carried on the carrier on the rails are contacted with the molten solder when the rails are in their lowered positions. Engaging means is provided for movement with one of the rails and for supporting engagement with the carrier. The engaging means is horizontally moveable so that the carrier engaged by the engaging means is horizontally moved forward and backward. By suitably moving the rails and the engaging means, the printed circuit board may alight on and leave from the surface of the molten solder in any desired tilted state.

  • Patent number: 4494257
Abstract: A control device for regulating the skimming flow of surface water from a swimming pool to a perimeter gutter includes a housing disposed in a gutter wall, at the normal level of water in the pool, which defines a flow passage from the pool to a lower gutter trough. A plate pivotally supported within a downwardly-sloped portion of the flow passage reduces flow through the housing in response to increasing levels of water in the trough. The plate closes the flow passage when the water in the trough exceeds a predetermined level to prevent flooding of the gutter and to prevent back flow of water from the gutter to the pool.
